Dogs @ Ft. Tilden
We had our pups out on the beach at Ft. Tilden today.
All was going well until some random woman walking along the beach immediately started threatening to call the police because our dogs were off-leash.
I couldn't help but laugh at her although we eventually put them back on the leash. Even on this beautiful day the beach was pretty desolate. We were south of Jacob Riis and south of where the nude sunbathers hang out (no pun intended) and our dogs were running along the surf line and not bothering anyone.
I just don't understand some people's over-reactions to dogs being off-leash. It's a different situation if it's the 4th of July weekend and the beach is packed. If we we're trying to walk our dogs off-leash at that time of year then we deserve all the abuse that people hurled at us and a ticket. But when the beach is virtually empty it just seems a bit extreme.
My wife and I wondered whether the random woman heckled the nudists as vociferously as she threatened us. Probably not.

I don't mind off leash dogs that are well trained and don't stick their noses up peoples butts. Let the dogs have fun. My only caveat is if they take a crap while off leash, pick it up!
