Mugging on Park Place
My husband got mugged at gun point today, I thought I should warn people
to be careful. It happened near 280 Park Place (between Vanderbilt and
Underhill) at 2:15pm. He was not on his cell and was walking at a good
pace. There were groups of teenagers on both sides of the block, and he
thinks the mugger probably used the groups to blend in and not be
spotted. He didn't seem to be part of the groups. As my husband passed
him, he nudged his shoulder in and put a big silver gun to my husbands
stomach and told him to give all his money. After giving him cash he had
loose in his pocket, the man asked him if that was it and after my
husband said yes the man asked him for his cellphone, told him to stand
still, and then go. My husband ran as fast as he could towards
Vanderbilt. He saw a police car right away and flagged it down. He
proceeded to ride around the neighborhood looking for the suspect but no
luck. The man probably had an accomplice and took off in a car since he
vanished so quickly. My husband was then taken to the 77th precinct to
do a report.
I urge you to be careful and be aware of your surroundings. This situation could have ended baddly.

Yes, glad he is ok.
Armed robberies are scary stuff. -
Glad he's physically okay.
A midday attack like this is very brazen and concerning. -
Yes, incidents like this tend to leave a lasting psychological effect on victims.I'm glad her husband had more sense than this 13 year old did, when her phone was stolen:I don't know that she would have been logical even if her mugger had shown a gun.
