Mystery of wet Park Slope cellars solved
Ever wonder why, after a heavy rain, water floods Park Slope cellars that are not near the Gowanus Canal?
You can find out at a presentation by Eymound Diegel, an urban planner and hydrologist, titled “A River Runs Through It.” His talk is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 7th at the Old Stone House (3rd Street between 4th & 5thAvenues).
Using “digital dowsing” and old maps, Diegel has located and mapped the underground streams and springs that flow down Park Slope’s slope into the Gowanus watershed. He will answer questions about his research and findings after the presentation.
The event, which is free, is sponsored by the Forth on Fourth Committee of the Park Slope Civic Council.
