Subject: Chez Lola's On Myrtle Now Opened

Just wanted to let everyone know that Chez Lola is now opened on Myrtle.

I wrote a quick review with lots of pictures.

  • Your review was great, Jay. Food looks tasty - any comparisions from people who've eaten at Chex Oskar?
  • This review was great. Definitely want to check it out, any other forum posters been there yet? How would you rate it against Chez Oskar?
  • I've never been to Chez Oscar, but me and three friends went to Lola and absolutely loved it. Good food & prices, great atmosphere.

They don't have their liquor license yet but I'm not complaining - it's cheaper to bring your own anyway. There's a liquor store a few blocks away too.
  • Good to know re: liquor license. Thanks for review!
  • Please tell me you're not serious with that "freedom fries" stuff!
  • Definitely want to try Lola though, especially if their prices are a bit more reasonable than Oskar. I've only eaten at Oskar once and that was the reason why.

Chez Lola is impressive in the beauty of the space but I think vegetarians might be warned. A lot of the main dishes are meat: veal, pork, beef, etc. and there does not seem to be much choice for veggies. However, I must say that the clams with coconut / curry is so great those of you who eat fish and not meat should definitely give it a shot. I'd like to see a few more veggie friendly options definitely.

this is a very good point that I forgot to mention. one of my friends is vegetarian and his options were limited. he did get the "guitarra pasta" and liked it a lot.
  • I was kidding on the freedom fries. I like to try (try being the key word here) and inject some humor into my post to keep it fun and lively. (like the 'nabe)

I think vegetarians overall, depending on how vegetarian you on (vegans - forget about it), will have a fairly tough time in most places. I think Chez Lola's can accomadate requests to make things more vegetarian friendly.

I also recently tried Chez Oskar and thought the food was good. The vibe's very different as Oskar's seems more...french and not as casual.

I like Lola's better but that's just a personal preference.
  • I recently went back and revisited chez lola.

Still pretty good but wasn't really that busy for a Friday night. What's everyone think of the place?
  • I have never seen this place open. What kind of hours does it keep?
  • Cool, thanks. I see now it's only open for dinner at the moment. Guess I keep walking by during the day!
