The Big 18 developments in western Crown Heights Whynot_31 won't stop talking about

As readers are likely aware, I use to jabber about the demographic changes occurring in western Crown Heights, which I define as being west of Nostrand.     If you live east of Nostrand, I have nothing against the area where you live...

Here's my list:

1. At Bedford and Lincoln, a large apartment building is now being constructed. In total, there will 114 new units. Some of them will be designated for the members of the church which used to occupy the site.

2. The Court Officers Academy, located in the St. Theresa Complex on Classon and St. Johns, has been in the works for more than a decade. It is expect to open and house students in the Fall of 2016: ;

3. A massive glassy building is well underway at Franklin and Dean It will have 120 units and commercial space.

4. The former brewery site located at Franklin and Bergen. The large brick building is going to be renovated into 38 residences

5. 165 apartments are presently being constructed on Rogers at Crown St. ;

6. 162 units are under construction at St. John's near the shuttle tracks. ;

7. The SW corner of EP and Bedford was a gas station, and the owner is likely waiting for the plot to be rezoned before plans are filed. ;

8. The former site of Sea Crest Laundry, 46 Crown St at Franklin Avenue is slowly being torn down and will eventually feature 209 rental apartments. I’ll miss the smoke stack. ;

12. The Spice Factory on Franklin near Empire was rumored to have changed hands. That rumor has been denied, but it seems to be just a matter of time.

13. The massive car wash and gas station at the NE corner of EP and Bedford has been demolished and will become 133 apartments

14. The Associated Supermarket on Nostrand at Sullivan occupies a really big lot, which has recently changed hands. The owner has stated they can only stay a few more years.

15. 781 Washington (the NE corner of St. Johns) presently accepts Section 8 tenants, but is renovating its units…

16. A twelve story, 170 unit building will replace a garage previously owned by Brooklyn Botanical Garden on Montgomery St, between Washington and Franklin:

17. The defunct school building located at the corner of Rogers and Sterling is in trouble with the city and appears as if it will change ownership. 116 Rogers, 118 Rogers,120 Rogers, 122 Rogers, 124 Rogers, 126 Rogers, 770 Sterling
