Keith Veren, of Centereach, N.Y., was at a BP gas station on Atlantic and Utica avenues just after noon Saturday when he was shot in the chest by an unknown suspect or suspects, police said. The 46-year-old was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The police department has not yet identified any suspects in the shooting, but surveillance video of the incident shown in an earlier report by WNBC shows two people in dark clothing near Veren’s white truck before the gunfire, then running away from the scene. The investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said Monday.
