how can I save money on what I pay my realtor?

  • well, you can always ask them to take a lower fee. I’m sure with the soft market, less is better than none. Or you can try FSBO services like www.forsalebyowner.com.
  • I checked out for site, really cool. I didn’t even really think of this before.
  • yeah, it’s pretty cool. I mean what does a realtor cost? 6% …1 out of every $20 of your home price going to them? No thanks.
  • have you used them before? www.forsalebyowner.com, I mean.
  • I haven’t, cause I rent, but I know some people that has before and it worked out real well for them.
  • You can also see about getting a Loan Officer to help you out - as an LO, I used to work the purchase market, and helped sellers of FSBOs prequalify all potential purchasers. a) It can be a good way of avoiding getting hot'n'heavy with someone that really doesn't have the capability and/or serious intent of buying your home and b) I could sometimes steer potential buyers that I had qualified previously.

The nice thing about this for you - you get the assistance of someone that knows the waters, yet you don't pay the LO a dime, s/he makes money on the loan originated with the new buyers and has more leads for future purchases, ie, the people that didn't buy your home, but did fill out prequal apps.
  • Well I appreciate the info.
  • no problem. Good luck with it.
  • post on criags list its free.
  • Depending on where it is the Brooklyn papers can help sell your home List it in their real estate section. There website is www.Brooklynpapers.com; i read it all the time i'm sure others as well do; and would probably give you the market you need.
