Brooklyn dogs being abused: need input from experienced resc

The crackheads from whom I rescued my pup are at it again. They are advertising more of their un-neutered, un-vaccinated, malnourished dogs on Craigslist for $500 a pop (in reality they will actually give them away to anyone for 10 dollars). I am really worried about the dogs because the pup I got from them was in TERRIBLE physical and emotional shape when I got him from them and I only took him because I felt so sorry for him and wanted to help him get well.

Is there some kind of authority I could get to go and confiscate these dogs from this asshole? My fear in doing that is that the dogs would then wind up in a shelter and possibly be euthanized because they may not be all that adoptable. I believe this person has two dogs left. I would be willing to take them in myself but I am not willing to pay him $1000 for them because they are going to cost me a lot in vet fees. Here is his most recent email about his dogs. From his email I'm assuming that the siblings are now mating with each other and that the pups are now inbred?

"I have about 6 dogs dat live wit me. And I cant keep all so I have 2 sell some of them. And they keep on making babies"

  • I'd contact the city department of animal care & control and the ASPCA as well.

Here's the contact info for AC&C:
    AC&C Brooklyn Animal Care Center
    (212) 788 4000

And the ASPCA's number for reporting animal cruelty is (212) 876-7700, ext. 4450.

If they don't do anything, you could always try going to the media. Fox 5, for example, LOVES stuff like this.

Really? Fox would be interested? Isn't this a sad story that happens every day?

I will contact the AC&C but my fear is that these animals will then just wind up in a shelter with nobody wanting to adopt them. What they need is to be in loving homes with people experienced with Min Pins. I could actualyl find good homes for them if I could just get them out of the clutches of this nasty guy.

I'm just speculating, but it seems like nothing's too small for the "Problem Solvers" to exploit. It would be worth a try, but maybe only as a last-ditch effort

I just thought of one other possibility. Most breeds of dogs have a rescue organization dedicated to them, so I did some Googling and found the Internet Miniature Pinscher Service (http://www.minpinrescue.org/). Their hotline number is 1-877-minpin1. They also have a contact in NY named Karen whose email address is on this page:

Try them -- they might have some ideas that will be helpful.
  • Damn Appolonia, that is some damn fine work. If I ever need to find something out, you're the person I'm going to. On behalf of Min Pins everywhere, thank you!
