Why is George W. Bush still in office?

After watching Spike Lee's "When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts," I return to this nagging question. In the film, Bush comes off as being so obsessed with fighting terrorism overseas that he neglects people dying in his own country.

There must be some calculus at the highest levels in this country as to the value of the life of a US citizen vs. a foreigner. I mean, if Ford Motor Company calculated that a life was worth $200725 in the mid-60s, surely Washington is doing the same today for both American and Iraqi civilians. I'd be interested to know what the current exchange rate is; I'm guessing it's running about 100-to-1 based on casualties.

The only reason gw is still in office is the republician controlled both congress and the senate. we'll see what happens after the dems take over. not counting my chickens, but hoping we do more than just lay an egg.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought he was still in office because US presidents get 4 year terms, and he was reelected in 2004 by a majority of the electoral college. Unless you think that the new congress and senate will impeach him?

Which branch of government controls the actual grounds of White House? Even if he's unimpeachable, maybe congress has the power under the constitution to turf him out of the office and into a kennel in the Rose Garden? Then he could be kept on a tight leash and paraded regularly for the press.
