if your dog isn't pooping right, it might be giardia

Small enclosed dog runs are a perfect place for transmission, esp if they're not cleaned religiously. Evidently the small beasts of the West Village are lousy with it, as evidenced by the pudding smears left behind (YECK!)

My friend's vet (in the West Village) offered free walk-in testing for giardia, and got a result of 45% positive. JEEZ! Even tho people self-selected for the test, that's a lot.

I'm wondering if we have a similar problem in Brooklyn. Just a thought, just a head's up.
Puppies and other immune-suppressed pets are most likely to get it.

A word to new dog owners: it's not normal for a dog to have the runs most of the time!
See a vet!

It also could be diet, not parasites. Some dogs are allergic to stuff, and you have to find them the right food. Canidae and Eagle Gold and Eagle Holistic are a few I know that could work if your dog has allergies. You have to try it out for a month or so to really find out.
