vacations?
Where have people gone and whats good?
I am leaning into to doing a trip or two, and looking mostly into Montreal, and maybe key West.
We were not really planning on doing some big honeymoon thing, pending how we can save, but wanted to get away once/twice related to both the
wedding(october) and my 30th birthday(march 2008).
Montreal seems the most appealing, 2 concerns are the weather(would rather not have to wait to late spring 08 to be warm enough) or the trip(airfare is a lot of money for us, but not looking forward to long car/train rides).
I think Montreal can be an affordable trip, I got another good tip from biddingfortravel website(forum on using priceline name your own price), and it seem you can get this nice hotel for 47-50 a nite usually(using that above feature)

its a good forum to research, we went to boston last year(great trip), and I scored the Hilton at 60% off regular internet rates

I like the drive to Montreal. It's a gorgeous city but only during the summer. Having a car also allows you to see the outskirts, which only twenty minutes away, leads to nice farmland/boonies and a ton of wineries. Quebec City, also a beautiful city is about a two hour (?) drive. When I was in Canukia to years ago (NB, PEI, & NS) I was amazed at how far our Yankee dollar went. You have to watch out for GST, it can hurt a tad but you get most of it refunded once you fill out a form or two, so save all your receipts.

I might consider driving, just to save money.
What is the deal with border crossing(how long, what to they do etc.)
{a thought is to hold off montreal to april/may next year after I turn 30, and we will have more money/time to spend there} Maybe a simple weekend away for a honeymoon in november -
The border crossing can take any where from 15 minutes to over an hour depending traffic and what kind of mood the border agents are in. I've seen a few cars being sectioned off for searches. I'm not sure driving will save money over air fare. I drive for the fun of it. Air travel has reached a level of insanity now or days.

thanks. I may just wait another year on this one, I am thinking of doing vegas right after the wedding for a bit. I am going to research a bit for deals, but I should be getting my tax refund soon

bear in mind that the crossing may take a little longer now that passports are required to travel back & forth from Canada...

You should check out MGM and Monte Carlo then. They're decent hotels within the deal range. Otherwise, if you have money to blow stay at Wynn, Bellagio or Mandalay. Place like Circus Circus, The Tropicana, The Luxor, and so on....fucking dumps. My tenements are run better than those places. -

True that. The last time I went to Quebec City and Montreal I entered Canukia on the Vermont border on I-89. Very quick, no crowds at all.
