Scared of the DOH! — Brooklynian

Scared of the DOH!

So I was biking down CIA on my way to Coney Island to burn off some excess fat when I happened across a very nondescript Mexican place. I ordered two tacos. One spicy pork and one fried pork. I also ordered a cactus salad. The tacos were great. The spicy pork was actually spicy but not in a pepper heat way and the fried pork was chunky and moist. They both came with fresh cilantro and accompinied with one of the best salsas I've tasted in NYC. The salad, although the cactus obviously comes from a jar or can was made pleasant with fresh raw onion, tomato, Mexican cheese and lime juice. The salsa is to die for. I saw this guy make it in front of me. Jalapenos (I believe), green tomatoes and salt in a blender with some water and cilantro. Now, why am I scared of the DOH seeing the name of this fine establishment? Because the place is a bit of a dump. The floors and tables are clean, the bathroom immaculate. However the cooking area is a mess. No dishwashers, no gloves for food prep and food that stays out in the normal air. But hey that's okay with me because the owner/s are nice people and they know how to cook on their make shift stove. If you want to know the name, if you're interested PM me and if I know you, if you promise not to post on Chowhound (after you've tried it of course) I will PM you the name. With all the crackdown going on it seems like the small yet popular places are taking the brunt of the penalties.

Correction : It's seasoned pork not spicy. Hence the pork having the flavor without the heat.
