cheap renovation supplies? tiles? wood flooring? overstock?
Hello all-
we're in the process of buying a place that needs considerable renovation (bedroom floors and closets, kitchen and bath) and i was wondering if anyone knew of websites that provided either green or recycled (read: nice but not outrageously expensive) or overstock supplies (tile, wood flooring, etc).
If anyone knows of such sites or stores or books or leads kindly let me know!

goto sixty fifth st between 11th ave and 7 ave. alot of supplies stores. no old stuff sorry. but you can get good deals.

Build It Green is the recycling resource in Queens - they have a pretty good website but you have to go in person.
Scan Brownstoner - there's a ton of places in Brooklyn for tile and construction overruns, but not in PH. -

I second Pitu's suggestions we renovated not long ago and we found some really nice flooring for our tenants at a flooring place on Smith and Bay Street or Court and Bay Street in Red Hook its pretty much what they have in the warehouse. You can also try Weisman's on McDonald Avenue - good luck

There are a bunch of places around 3rd ave in the 20s and 30s that have hardwood flooring and kitchen cabinets at decent prices. One is R&L Flooring at 712 3rd Ave. -

Home Depot and Lowes are killing the local cabnet and flooring places, so you can benefit from their demise by buying stuff at the auctions.
See the NYT Sunday business section for listings. ...they usually happen during business hours, you'll have to remove the stuff quickly, but its cheap. -
