Venue for baby showers, kids parties, weddings?

So far, in our neighborhood, I've found www.GrandSpace.com @ Bergen and Grand. It's got a 2500 sq. ft. room reasonably priced. Any others?

Not sure how big a space you need but St. Josephs on Pacific has a huge space downstairs where they used to have the dances at. I know they have rented it out for weddings and Sweet 16's in the past. I think its the same with St. Teresa's on Classon.

Are you looking for something specific and does it have to be in PH
  • Well if you're looking into renting "Grandspace", you might want to inquire if they have a business license. Often these type of spaces get raided by the Police, leaving the rentee holding the bag with the renter nowhere to be found.
  • Subject: another space

There is another space on St. Marks above the music rehearsal space. The woman who has the jewelery studio has a rental space also.
  • Just went to a wedding at Bubby's Pie House in Dumbo. Admittedly, not in the neighborhood but very nice and apparently pretty reasonable
  • For the time being, there's the backroom at Freddy's and the upstairs at that other bar over by BAM...is it called Frank's?
On Fulton or on Lafayette . . . they have two rooms upstairs and a dj booth -- more for a party or a shower than a wedding . . .
  • A few baby showers have been held at Union Hall during the day, which I think is a cool idea. It seems that since no smoking indoors has allowed bars to be used during the day. I've seen that Soda uses their extra space for kiddy-music-circle thingy (I don't know what thats all about... no kids of my own). Good luck!
  • also there's the back/side room at tavern on dean. you can generally request that reservation for the cost of food/drinks purchased there.
  • For larger events, there are a number of venues for rent in Prospect Park. You can rent the boathouse or the picnic house. The boathouse can accommodate up to 110 people, and the picnic house can accommodate 250.
I've been to affairs/events in both venues and they're really nice.

  • I had a wedding at the Picnic House in Prospect park.
    Relatively easy to work with.
Tavern on Dean is pretty great for the back room.
What kind of party do you want to have? Or are you looking for general info?
  • Subject: Baby Shower Location

I had a wonderful baby shower in the back room of the Tavern on Dean. It was great. The staff was very accommodating. There were approx. 25 people there.
  • Restoration Plaza on Fulton St and New York Avenue has large banquet rooms they rent for such occasions.
