What are you doing this 3 day weekend or ideas?

Considering what a horrible week this has been this three day weekend couldn't have come at a better time. I will be drinking heavily haha. Not in an abusive way, just forcing a buncha old friends from NJ to quit being lame and finally come hang out in Brooklyn. Spend some real quality time at Rope, The Levee and Lost & Found. All will be right in the world 8)

I was going to henna my hair, but the stuff didn't come on time. 2-3 days for priority mail doesn't seem to apply this week.

You gotta watch out for that henna stuff, because it has so many strong botanicals it can actually damage your hair as much as regular hair dye. To boot, most hair dyes warn against using them if you've henna'd your hair in the past because of the bad reactions of the herbal residue and the chemicals of the permanent dye. At least that's what I remember from high school, in my crazy hair days. -
I'm going to spend it at work despising people who get a 3 day weekend.

Unfortunately that's the common misconception. I probably wouldn't have learned otherwise if it weren't for the wonder of the internet.
Its true there is stuff labeled "henna" out there that contains metallic salts and all sorts of other shit. That's the boxed stuff you see in the health food store, and that's not really henna. Henna is actually ONE plant and one plant alone ground into a powder. I mean we're talking about a tradition that goes back a couple thousand years! You just have to buy body art quality (the kind used to do those hand designs) henna to get the good stuff. If its pure henna, its far better for your hair than any chemical dye and most shampoos and conditioners.
There's an awesome site I came across while first learning about henna. They have a forum where people ask all the same questions I had about it.

Right, it's natural and it has been used for thousands of years so it must be safe. Just like tobacco for example. -

Well, I'm not saying smoke it!
Did you read the science/history? I thought that was your thing. :P -
Whatever Dr. J, just because you don't need the henna, you got a hot and sexy natural redhead at home already. Ooo la la

Don't worry, we won't steal your "hot wife" trophy off your mantle. -
Disclaimer: Mrs Dr J uses henna.

Hahahahaha! I knew you were a sneaky one.

Hmmm...I wonder if my husband is off bad-mouthing henna on some other forum...

me thinks he was questioning your logic, not your conclusion.

Oh. Ok. Its weird that that particular sentence came off as my logic as to why to use it. I guess I just should have said read blah blah link. I can't be bothered to type out my own reasoning clearly. Anyhoo...no big deal. -
i always giggle a little when i read product endorsements like "Natural and Unprocessed, so you know it's safe for baby!" Like crude oil?

Like lead, mercury salts, polonium-210, botulinum, ricin, Amanita phalloides, poison hemlock, belladonna, rosary pea, oleander, monkshood, yew...
It's a dangerous world out there!

See that's why I was telling Mamacita that its worth it to do some research to learn what's really in a product. As much as you can't assume something isn't "natural" you can't also just assume that using the term "natural" means they are lying or trying to trick you. Neither way is always right, obviously.
But anyway...back to the topic at hand...
Hey, I went to a great party last night! Met some cool people, talked about music, drank tap Leffe, etc. I'm glad that something went on this weekend.
Howdy, Stranger!
