You just complained about there being four places to get pizza in this area. So why on earth does Vanderbilt Ave. need a barber shop? As far as I can tell, there are about fifty in the vicinity. Talk about not being innovative.
Also, Zaytoons' pizza, Amorina's pizza, and Antonio's pizza are all very different from each other. And in case you hadn't noticed, New York can support a lot of pizza places. I would be very excited if a good place to get a slice opened on Vanderbilt, since Antonio's is only ok. -
Re: minority businesses, several have opened in the past few years, including three hair salons/barber shops, Zaytoons, Nana (at least in part, I think), and a Dominican restaurant. A Caribbean restaurant opened briefly near Nana, but lasted only briefly.

Subject: No extra Barbers
The math is that Tyrell's closed and those barbers went down the block to True Dream, where Nicko (pronounced Nico) used to work before he opened his own place. So there is no additional barber shop. Despite the romper room colors of his shop, I'm glad he is around. He cut my hair for years, and is the best barber I ever had. He's a nice guy and is not testosterone poisoned like some of the Tyrell's guys were, and is far better than many of the other barbers around, particularly some at Benoit on Park Pl., where half of the old Haitian men there need a cut and aren't getting one. Time for them to close or get new life if you want to go on a campaign. -
