Subject: Coke
I guess most of you don't go to Bars on the weekends, i guess most of you never seen coke deals going on just in about every single bar on Vandy.. Weed is nothing compared to the throngs of 20 something guys and gals coke out of their minds.
Mr met says that they have delivery service for coke, does Mr met get his stuffed delivered to his house?? Probably dumbest thing to do, sting operation and you lose evrything in your house.. -

so you're saying that the corner dealers are going into bars and selling to 20-something white people? maybe, but i doubt it.

you can have any drug you want delivered right to your front door. ive never purchased cocaine, so no, i don't have it delivered to my house. my 420 delivery service is great, though! of course i'm just kidding, coppers. -

The question was about street corner drug deals, not the bars you frequent Mr. Sneaky. But thanks for letting us know the sort of establishments you prefer, I guess. You are undoubtedly passing this info on to your local precinct, I'm sure.

Tell you the truth is that it has been a long time since i have seen dealers on the streets, i have to say that you are right mr met,, dealers just don't stand on corners like it used to be.. Just like ladies of vice don't stand on 3rd avenue anymore, i guess dealers have computers and Craigslist nowadays..Also , just about every single bar in NYC has the problem of young hipster or 20n something kids thay go out get drunk and are high on coke. Just ask any bar owner or manager, its the drug of choice... -

oh yea, definitely. coke is everywhere, including bars. i just don't think these youngsters are contributing to the presence/prosperity of corner drug dealers. -
So, is it that the street dealers are moving east (due to gentrification), and that those using in PH are simply going east to get their fixes, OR, is it that the way that drugs are distributed is changing due to the internet? Probably a little bit of both. What do you think?

So I'm gonna have have to say that the Newbies keepin the Drug Dealers in Business Myth is "Busted". As for the Newbies keeping the Robbers gainfully employed, well that just might be plausable.
One could argue that that could just as easily be due to bias in enforcement rather than actual prevalence of use. -
King without a crown wrote: Crack yes........Coke is very rare on the mean streets of Prospect Heights. Maybe in the Bars, or for the lazy folk, they have delivery services like Fresh Direct.
well, all of the deals I've seen are in bars. so maybe that's an issue with enforcement? I mean, I've seen folks show up in bars frantic looking for the coke dealer. and I've had the coke dealers gift me coke (returned, btw, since I don't do that shit - I can poison my body with alcohol just fine, don't need help from something else) for my birthday and other occasions. so the shit is out there. -

Bias? I highly doubt that, Bringing in a gentrifier is like a Trophy in the 77! -

I think that if you look at differences in terms of how often members of different groups get searched, that goes a long way to explain your stats. -
Coke is pretty popular with 20-somethings these days, but it's such a boring drug. I wish these mythical dudes on the corner were selling/giving away acid and we could paint the streets of PH with dayglow geometric flowers and the stroller moms would be all like "peace!" when they walked by and all the PH babies could be named Moonbeam and Sunshine and Meadow....
Hmmm, maybe I should move to the west coast 8) -

Are you serious?? Come on over to the northeast corner of St. Johns and Washington, outside the Deli Cup and the brownstone right next door. Day, night, winter, summer... hasn't let up in the 12 years I've lived here.
I think, though, that street dealers and coke in bars are two separate things. Different dealers, different drugs, different customers. -

yea, then in 15 years we can all turn into yuppies like the original hippies!I think, though, that street dealers and coke in bars are two separate things. Different dealers, different drugs, different customers.
indeed -
Hold on a second... Fresh Direct delivers cocaine now?

I agree with the ever-observant Carnivore. I live in Crown Heights and am amazed that the hundreds upon hundreds of white drug dealers and users that populate Washington, Classon, Franklin, Bedford, Rogers, Nostrand, New York, Brooklyn, Kingston, Albany, Schenectady, Utica, Rochester, Buffalo, and Ralph Avenues are being systematically ignored by NY's finest, even as African-American, Caribbean, and Latino dealers and users are arrested and detained in record numbers. I'm telling you, it just isn't right and the police officers should be ashamed!!!

Subject: Jenkem
Hey not funny making fun of poor Zambian children who are destitute, without parents, starving , abused and self prostituting, these kids are trying to find a way to scape their shitty lives , no money to buy coke, or crack or heroine like you have, so they have to get high on shit fumes, if you think that its funny to make fun of people that are less fortunate than you then you are a F+cked up person.... -
Lighten up, Francis...

doctorj wrote: Say, does anyone know whether Jenkem is being dealt on Vandy, 'cos I'd really like to get hooked up with some.
If you're looking for Jenkem, you must go underground. The Jenkem dealers work the subway lines.

Although Jenkem seems crazy, doesn't the fact that people resort to such methods to get high point to the nearly universal desire of humans to alter their consciousness? Not only through drugs but also through music, dancing, meditation and religious practices.
We really need to reevaluate the drug war in this country. Even though I can joke about it, I agree with Dee Dee that the war on drugs unfairly targets non-white and poor people. We live in a society were 1 in 100 adults is in prison and that's just sick.
Some good organizations to support if you are against the drug war are Students for Sensible Drug Policy http://ssdp.org/index.php
The Drug Policy Alliance http://www.drugpolicy.org/homepage.cfm
and Law Enforcement Against Prohibition http://www.leap.cc/cms/index.php -

I'm from the West Coast - San Francisco and the Bay Area, no less. It was pretty much like that back in the day and there are some areas that are still holding on to that vibe. -

King,
Please elaborate...my friends and I have always assumed that Officers who bring in a small time doobie smoker or other petty offender would be laughed at by their fellow officers in 'higher' crime areas.King without a crown wrote: [quote=Carnivore][quote=King without a crown]Well if you happen to be in the waiting area of the 77 precinct, when narcotics and the pct SNEU team empty their vans, you'll probably notice few,if any gentrifiers lined up against the wall.
