  • Ok everyone. Let's all hug it out now.

    Ending on a silly note

Here's a thought: do the same thing all the time, whatever it is. Then you don't have a problem and nothing is hazy, it's crystal clear.

People respect discipline when it's consistent. When it's not, they don't respect it and are confused. It's simple psychology.

You know what also works in an authority figure: grace. Through all this homeowner never came into this thread and said, You know what, my bad, I should have been more clear about where I moved the post and it was my mistake. That would've helped too.
if we wanted "consistency", in your terms, we'd hire a programmer to write a program that would have posts containing certain words moved off site, all the time. is that what you *really* want? an internet controlled by the same shitty software that controls the corporate network that many of us work under? or ... not being able to type the word "shitty" without knowing your post will be auto-pulled? please.

(aside from the fact that custom brewing something like that would cost a fortune and anything already created for phpbb would probably crash our server ... (oh, and cost the site a fortune))

so. you must deal with the fact that your moderators and administrators on this site are human beings. shocker, I know. and just like sometimes that cop overlooks your speeding, or writes you up for something minor when you've committed something more major (say a seat belt violation vs. a +40mph speeding ticket), no human run system is going to be "consistent".

    please. move on.
  • I did let this go, you're starting it up again.

Your "human" thing applies to posters as well. They make mistakes, they're overzealous, they don't exactly follow a thread with their posts. Life is all about tangents. Deleting posts, giving people "time outs" --- not the solution.

You want humanity, be human yourself.

Your opinion has been duly noted. The admins and moderators of the site disagree, and we will continue to move posts offsite that we feel violate the rules. As always, you may appeal to an admin if you have a question about a specific moderator action.
And of course, you are always welcome to start your own completely unmoderated site.
  • So has yours. In the words of the other mods, let it go, dude. That and your snarky comments just continue to ignite something that I'm very willing to let die. You continue to prove that the mods around want to flex their muscle and show their superiority which is completely unattractive. Find some constraint.

    This essay in a nutshell:
In Wikipedia, sometimes debates get heated.
Whenever this occurs, it is of primary importance that you always ensure that you get the Last Word.

Frame it any way you like.
