Subject: What's up with the cops/cars posted on St. John's?

I just (8:30 pm) saw a flashing cop car with cop posted outside on corner of St. John's/Underhill and then another set down at St. John's/Washington. Is this just regular surveillance or did something happen? (I don't get out much....)

  • I saw that too and thought it was weird. No idea what's going on though.
  • they were on Underhill/Lincoln last night..
  • It's a regular occurence as part of the robbery reduction plan.

I walked passed the one on Washington and Lincoln as well. But what exactly does that mean, PR? What happens during a robbery reduction plan? Just curious.
  • I saw the car on Washington/St. Johns also, and then seconds later saw a drug transaction on the street just a few steps down toward Classon. Sure hope it's helping with the robbery reduction, cuz it doesn't seem to be a deterrent to the drug dealers.
  • yeah, I've seen them the last few nights. it was suggested I might be able to get a ride home but I figured asking would probably get me tossed in the back of the car & arrested for being an ass.
  • someone should buy a scanner and then give us the 411.
  • Too bad they weren't there on Saturday night - after an event on underhill around 30 kids were hanging around Underhill and Eastern parkway - one of them was jumping onto the hoods of cars and jumping up and down to dent em.

Does anyone know what those events are?
  • I got to watch that one from my window. It was around 1:30AM on Saturday night. I'm going to guess by the number of kids in formal wear that some school had an early prom at the Eastern Athletic Center. The cops rolled by after 15 minutes or so and scattered them, but it was a festival of screaming and car jumping until then.
