Noise along Eastern Pkwy

Hi

I am new to PH, so any information is useful to me.

I know 2&3 run under the parkway. I have found an apt on the first floow between Underhill and the Plaza and I saw the substop is only half block away. Will that be an issue for night sleep?

Thanks

  • Subway will be the least of your worries. It'll be the car traffic. But at night, things are pretty mellow. The occasional drunk or very angry person, or some insanely crazy loud truck, but not the subway.

    Sweet dreams.
  • I live on that block and yes, sometimes you feel the gentle rumble of the trains beneath you. You get used to it.

It's the morons on the tricked-out motorcycles who like to speed down Eastern Parkway at 3AM that you have to fear.
  • How much noise does a subway make? Not much at all. For example, my wife and I lived on a first-floor apartment facing the street on Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene. About once in a week I noticed a very faint rumbling. It took six months before I figured out that G-train passed under the sidewalk right under my window. The train passes about once every half hour, or however often the G-train runs… but the sound was so quiet, I never even heard it most of the time.
  • The 2/3 line goes under my 1st floor place. Like Turaho said, sometimes you'll feel a little rumble, but it's nothing. I'm a very light sleeper and have never noticed it.

Bonus: you have a subway station really close to home. You'll learn to love that feature. And remember, you can take a 4 to Nevins and switch across the track to a 2/3 easily.
