Does anyone know a good location in the neighborhood for a safe and clean bikini wax?

  • Elan on 7th Ave. I'm headed over there next Thurs before my wedding. They're good. Lots of friends' recommendations steered me their way.
  • Subject: cure beauty bar, clinton hill

    fulton & clinton.
  • I love Elan for brows and ok for legs, but do not bring you hoo-ha in there! Get on the train and go to completely bare (www.completelybare.com). You really want a hard wax rather than a strip wax for down there. You also want a place that is extremely strict about hygene - no double dipping or reusing tools. It'll cost a lot more, but hey, don't go cheap for your precious jewel.

Elan's also great for lash tinting - no more mascara.
  • I actually dabble in some bikini waxing in my spare time. Maybe we can arrange something :P

    I don't get it.

Are these like lee-press-on-cooter-crystals? Glitter glue? What is going on here?

P.S. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but how about giving me the words. It is too early in the morning. I have a headache. The cat puked on the table. No pictures, please.

Is this like those free mammograms you used to offer?

your guess is as good as mine.

all i can think is that it seems a bit...potentially abrasive...for that special someone.

So does the owner of a cooter adorned in such a fashion get to charge extra for the exfoliation?

I mean, this whole thing could just be a money making scheme hell bent on undercutting the spas.
  • I knew this thread would quickly go low-brow. And i think it's awesome. keep 'em coming!
  • Try Cure Beauty Bar on Fulton and Clinton...

  • Shit, I couldn't NOT look this one up. Damn. I feel so... dirty.
So some genius came up with the idea of arranging tiny, self-adhesive Swarovski crystals on the newly revealed expanse and charging $65 to $105 for the ordeal.
The crystals, he said, are relatively flat and don't cause chafing.

They are said to last about five days. Maybe longer if you are careful in the shower. Or don't. Shower. I would think.

if there's one place i wouldn't have expected that a surprise would be welcomed, nor interest lacking....

learn something new every day, i do.
  • You know Marilyn Monroe used to dye her hooha, you know, so it matched.
  • Are these women dating Starlings?

If you need to glue shiny objects onto your girly bits to make someone interested in them there might be something wrong with your relationship.
  • FWIW I changed my appt at Elan to Completely Bare (the sparkly hoo-ha place). I'm not going the crystal fabulous route, but for the price I'm paying it better be good! Upcoming wedding making me splurge. Darn wedding.

Also, I'm cracking up about the "low brow" comment. Can't help thinking that's a hilarious new euphamism.

And I thought that was Astro Turf

Maybe you can posts some pics so we can judge for ourselves if it was worth the money.

I still think its better to just wax it in the shape of a heart and have your significant other "eat their heart out". Its a win-win (or whoa-whoa) situation ;)

"Eat their heart out"... now that certainly gives me something to ponder when I go to my appointment. To heart or not to heart... how could I not heart now?
  • Does it have to be BK? Cuz I would recommend a place/waxer but it's in SoHo.
  • Jeeseeuuss.

    I read about getting rid everything/sharing roommate/taking a roommate.....

    And now this...

Forgive me--I have to go watch Barbara Broadcast to clear my head----about 30-minutes ought to do it...
  • this subject should be hair today gone tomorrow

Soho would work. It's right off of the B train. I just wanted to know if there was anything noteworthy in the neighborhood.

P.S. Thanks for the responses. Completely bare looks great. I guess Manhattan it is!
  • I made a bikini wax (first ever wax of any sort--yikes) appointment at CB after reading this thread. Grace was my waxer and if I decide to do this again, I'll likely go back. It didn't hurt much and she was thorough.

Maybe this thread should be moved to Chicklynian....

  • Yikes I forgot I was going to reco a SoHo waxer...way back in April :(

Anyway - Bliss Spa on Broadway. Basey is the great! Homegirl knows ALL my business, but keeps things in tip top shape under the hood. Done in 10 min flat.

    Yes, it still hurts.
