Leather-cleaning

Does anyone know of a good place to get a handbag cleaned? Doesn't have to be right around here, Manhattan is good, too--I just want to find someplace that somebody has had a good experience with.

Backstory: on Friday night, some drunk girl lunged across me for mysterious reasons, knocking my and my husband's drinks directly onto/into my handbag. This is what happens when I go out outside the neighborhood. #-o The bag is a dark color but it could still use some attention.

  • that sucks emily, but the pervert in me was hoping to read a interesting story about leather :p.
  • ArtBag is the place a purse store rec'd to me to clean the suede bag I bought from them...I still haven't made it there. They are in the not-cheap/super-good category

From copying a handbag to zipper replacement, restitching, and hardware replacement and replating, Artbag, 1130 Mad [84th] 212.744.2720, has been repairing leather goods for over 65 years. They also sell vintage and contemporary bags.

Another old-timer in this field is Modern Leather Goods, 2 W. 32nd [5th/6th] 212.279.3263. Up on the fourth floor, healing for broken straps, dirty fabric, and other city-living hazards.

  • Oooh, thanks for the links, pitu! One of those is really near where I have to run an errand tomorrow anyway.

And AW, sorry to disappoint your pervy side. This is a leather bag that I got as an anniversary present from my husband, so... yeah.
