Four corners of bars?
I noticed that the old Daffodil Hardware space on Vanderbilt and Bergen is for rent. Thus far, that four-corner area is home to Barrette and Beast, with the southest corner due to be a bar by this summer, courtesy of the Beast owners. Now, if only the old Daffodil space would become a bar, we would be batting 1.000. We really need a full-service pub a la Tavern on Dean or Downtown Atlantic.

Damn, I was about to recommend Daffodil as a really nice alternative to MayDay on a different thread but couldn't remember their name. When did they close?
(sorry for the thread jack) -
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but this is going to seriously suck for those of us who live at this corner. Perhaps we can get four competing tools standing at the four corners at 3 am singing "Hey Jude" instead of just the one we had this morning.

ironic since the song was meant to make things better better better
still, you have make an excellent suggestion. my only addition is when the 4 groups get to the "na na na na na na na" outro it be sang as a round.
Mod Edit: fixed your quote tags -
Ah yes. Inebriative polyphony.
Otherwise known as Tequila and Fugue in G Minor. -
I honestly can't remember the last time I partied in Manhattan on a weekend.
-
At this point, I hang out in Manhattan only a few nights a year. At this point, a long trek for me is Williamsburg, as it involves taking the Q to Union Square and then the L back to Brooklyn.

I do.
I was surrounded by a mob of NYU students, professional 30 somethings from Long Island on drinking binges sans spouse, and white, middle-aged tourists in golf shorts from across the nation. Most were well mannered (with the exception of a few jerks), but seemed overly stimulated by their surroundings.
And all the Brooklyn bound trains were broken.
Congrats to the mayor for turning Manhattan into America's #1 tourist attraction. Let's pray Brooklyn is perceived as "Dangerous Outerborough."
Let's stop praising the wonderful businesses we have to prevent an invasion. -

It's inevitable. -
I agree with Jack Krohn that we need another full service pub. I was really unimpressed with the food during my last visit to Tavern on Dean. Slow service and not well cooked food.

It's already happened. -
on vanderbilt's horizon, another verizon, more bars in more places.

so two of them make it better? -
No, two will hopefully make it better, because the one we have now sucks. Tavern on Dean blows, which is unfortunate, as I then have to trek to Pete's or Downtown Atlantic for decent pub food. Still, that beats going to Tavern on Dean.
I would love Vanderbilt to be another Smith or 5th. I agree with Carnivore that it is inevitable. -
If only we had a green grocer!!!!

I friggin hate that!
I personally dislike, and don't hang out in the bars in Wburg, but a number of my friends (the majority) live there, so to hang out at their apts I have to make the trek.
The trains suck on weekends, so I usually call a car, which means every damn weekend Im spending $40 to $80 on friggin car services.
Problem is, I don't want to live there either. I dislike ti that much.
O woe is me. -
Car service? Please. The B48 bus on Classon feeds you directly into Williamsburg and Greenpoint. It hits Lorimer and Metropolitan, right by the Lorimer stop.

Well, with the new budget cuts, the service will be decreasing dramatically. If Lo Kee goes to hang with friends, he's going to have to take a car home. -
the g train is extending south by 4 stops...
soon there will be easier access to williamsburg from brownstone brooklyn... -

I don't ride buses, especially at night.
It's a personal choice not motivated by snobbery. -
i take the bus TO williamsburg, but not home. i hate riding alone and i hate waiting for FOREVER because it never is on time.
