    Why should someone be conciliatory when they've done nothing wrong? The incident is over, and sounds like there were adequate apologies at the time. (Though the caps in the posting are a bit much!)

    It is worth remembering that there can be actual consequences for online chatter, even if it seems like you're having a private conversation.

    Because it is a place of business where you don't want to alienate your customers? Coming on about your "COLLEGE DEGREE'S" and calling people "YOU WASH WOMEN" who should be concerned about "BOMBINGSS IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE GENOCIDE IN DARFUR" rather than worrying about getting glass in their hands at the bar while telling them to "GET A LIFE!!!" is bad for business. IMHO.

    In all do fairness to BrooklynBound the original OP,
    she never exclaimed any outrage or blamed anyone
    or voiced anything along the lines of "fire that person" etc...
    She did note that the waitress apologized and
    the only thing that she said was "well I might not be back"
    which is totally her prerogative and not a big deal.

    I hope your friend doesn't get fired.
    I think the people here were just noting a general dissatisfaction.
    Personally, I don't go to soda late at night so I haven't had any bad experiences. I usually go during happy hour and everything
    is usually mellow and fun.

    If your boss becomes angry about anything, it should be the quality of the service at Soda! In the past, when Soda was the only option around, customers might have been more tolerant of slow service, but now that Weather Up, Plan B, Beast, Barrette, and Sepia (not to mention another bar slated for the corner of Vanderbilt and Bergen) have appeared, the competition in Prospect Heights is very real. Given how often I go out and how much I spend each time, I estimate that Soda has lost about $1000 in business from me since I decided to stop going there two years ago. Instead, that money was spent at the aforementioned places.

    eh. I discussed this incident with the owner last night and explained my viewpoint. I was at FP. I think everyone needs to chill the fuck out.

    I've only had one bad experience at Soda where a burger was very raw on the inside. Other than that they are always kind and helpful. maybe not the most attentive, but it's a bar and it gets dark as night in there. Hopefully no one gets fired over this, sounds like a bad incident that blew up too big.

    and, darlin', I have run into you there plenty of times. you may think the service sucks, but you still go. (or at least did, last time I saw you)
    Oh yes, I don't deny it. It's incredibly convenient for me, and I like many of the people who work there. But that's not going to stop me from giving an honest assessment of the place.

    nothing but bad experiences at soda for me/my friends:


    1. wallet got stolen when i left my stuff untended for literally 20 seconds (yeah, my fault, but c'mon.)
    2. bartender outright refused to serve me and my girlfriend one night, for no apparent reason. just shook his head and said "no." place was open and serving everybody else. maybe he didn't like my hoodie?


    no story i read surprises me anymore, really..

    (caveat: I know people who've bartended and DJ'd there for years and years -- I know who a lot of the former problem patrons were and can only take educated guesses about current problem patrons. they'd drive anyone over the edge. that said, I don't think anyone at that bar would approve of shattering a glass all over patrons.)
    unfortunately most of those fuckers work there.

    If by boss, you mean Toly, he's a reasonable guy who is very well familiar with Brooklynian. He's not going to simply fire someone based on message board chatter. If you're genuinely concerned about this, please contact me or alafairnadia so we can discuss this with him (it sounds like maybe alafair already has brought this up).

    I hate to speculate and cast doubt on your statement, but if it really was as simple as you say (she simply put the glass down too hard, came out and immediately apologized, etc) then I wonder why Toly would still be mulling over "your punishment". So before going on about "reckless writing", let's get everything on the table.

    Again, we are happy to help talk this out, because it would be terrible to get some one unjustly fired over message board comments.

    Not sure why I was called out by name when I didn't make the original grammar comment, but I would argue that it is fair game when part of someone's statement attests to their collective "COLLEGE DEGREE'S." *shrug*

    Wow. With all of the Soda stories posted on here, I didn't think that it would really get a response. This is actually my second time checking and a lot has gone on.

    I am not going to get into an argument. What happened happened. I simply shared an experience as a customer, just as people share on YELP or Citysearch, etc.

    As for the bartender's comments. I don't know where they came from. I had no problem with her and even mentioned that she got the waitress to apologize in my original post.

    thanks, DH. I did speak with Toly. he is a definite believer that squeaky wheels get way more attention - he knows that most of his patrons love his bars but some folks have a bad time. he's willing to listen to a report of a bad time, he just doesn't want to hear something totally bullshit or over the top, which I can totally respect. FP, his new establishment, is incredibly inclusive to the nabe. his previous new establishment, Noona, also incredibly inclusive. soda has issues - we all know that. it's also the scariest hipster joint in this nabe. thank goodness he makes enough from there to keep a korean restaurant open AND is working on a french bistro for the FP area. (oh, and he's going to show soccer games there - woo woo!!!)
