New to Sunset Park
I just moved in and am slowly making myself feel at home. I've already hit up Greenwood Cemetery (the whole reason I moved here), had a couple breakfasts at Sunset Bagels, and hit up a great bike shop on 7th Ave. What are some more must-sees and do's for a self-guided orientation to the neighborhood?

Check out the Little Chinatown along 8th Ave from the 40's to 60's sts.

check out the sunset deli on 4th and 42 or 43rd.
The best deli sandwich experience. or breakfast sandwich.
I still miss that place. -
Other food to check out: Other than those mentioned, Don Paco Lopez (48th and 4th) and Eclipse (42nd and 4th) are some of our faves. The banh mi at Ba Xuyen (sp) on 8th ave and 42nd are the best sandwich deal in town ($3.50!). I'm probably the only person on this board who thinks Tacos Matamoros is completely overrated, so you might try that too.
After public school lets out for summer, the pool will open, hooray! Adult lap hours are 7-8:30, am and pm, usually.
Since you discovered Mr. C's (I know people who bring their $x,xxx bikes there from Park Slope for repairs), you likely have the NYC bike map. Use it to map yourself to the Rockaways. One of my favorite routes is to Breezy Point and back -- it's just 35 miles round trip with fantastic views and scenery that you won't believe you're still in NYC. Most of it is on dedicated bike trails, although it is still a good idea to go early in the morning so as not to run over the promenaders. Or just ride to the beach. -
I'd second the mentions of Don Paco Lopez (the tortas, the tamales) and Ba Xuyen, and add that the Vietnamese iced coffee and fruit shakes (jackfruit! litchi!) at Ba Xuyen are great if you like condensed milk (i.e., if you have a sweet tooth!).
The gym at the rec center in the park, while not as posh as the city's gyms, is only $50 a year for a membership, and there are stationery bikes, StairMasters, treadmills, free weights, and weight machines.
Also try the dumplings at the dumpling place on 48th at 8th--four for a dollar!
A lot of these places have been mentioned before on this board, but they're so good they bear repeating. Enjoy! -

good site to check out restaurants. I liked sunset deli too until a few years ago when I say how many violations they had... -
Eclipse (on 4th between 43rd and 44th) had a terrific brunch on the weekends. The Eggs Benedict is to die for.
Howdy, Stranger!
