Moving Out - Movers
I saw a couple of recommendations on here for movers. I called Wong and did an online quote for Movers Not Shakers. These were the two most highly recommended movers. Wong quoted me, but can't fit into my hours. Movers not Shakers never responded to the quote.
Anyone have any other suggestions? I am moving a bed, dresser, desk, fan, tv, bookcase, suitcases and boxes.

I used a service last year called 'College Educated Movers' and, despite the annoyingly assuming name, I absolutely recommend them. Mine was a difficult three-pronged move, and they pulled it off efficiently and for less money than anyone else quoted. I've had several friends use them since and plan to use them again myself later this summer. I only have an email address for them at [email protected]. They gave me a quote over email once I explained what I needed to move. Hope this helps.

I used movers not shakers a couple of weeks ago and the were great! Gave me the lowest quote out of everyone that I called (I have a piano) and then stuck to that quote even though our sofa didn't fit through the downstairs door and they had to takes it up a flight to bring it down a flight in the end.
I'd keep trying them. They are incredibly accommodating and worth the money.
Best of luck! -
I agree w/the Movers not Shakers rec... try calling them instead of emailing them.

We used Moore Movers. They were good, and cheap. Didnt complain about 2 floors down, and 4 floors up.

I definitely say Movers Not Shakers. I've used them and recommended them to like 7 of my friends who all used them and had great experiences. Just give them a call, and tell them you were recommended by a friend it sometimes helps!

Too bad about Wong. Used them on my recent move (after several friends highly recommended them) and thought they were just great. The whole set up seemed kinda sketchy (call a cellphone, leave a message, Vivian calls you back, it's cash only...), but I won't use another. They were fast, nothing was damaged, and they took care to protect my furniture. Oh, and I got to ride in the truck!
I called MNS for a quote, and although it was higher than Wong (by a few hundred) they're also insured (Wong is not). We had already paid a damage deposit, and I figured that it would be cheaper to just replace my IKEA furniture if it got damaged (it did not). -
I am all set. Thank you all for your suggestions.

Does anyone know where I can get a few boxes?

Do you happen to have contact info for Wong and Movers Not Shakers? I have a short move (with short notice) and was hoping to get this sorted out as soon as possible.
Also, if there are any other recommendations, please feel free to share.
Thanks! -
I just used Moving Your Way [ http://www.movingyourway.com/ ]. They charged 108/hr for a minimum of 3 hours and wanted a 30 dollar tip per guy. I had a small move, and they were done in 2 hours. I had asked for 2-3 guys and they brought 4, so I only tipped 80 bucks total.. especially since I paid 324 for 2 hours of work. They were fast, professional, and everything was fine. I just don't know if I paid too much or if I was too cheap with the tip.
But if the pricing seems right to you, I'd recommend them.
