Crown Heights High School — Brooklynian

Crown Heights High School

If anything east of Washington is considered Crown Heights, then why is Prospect Heights High School located on Classon Avenue? Shouldn't it be called Crown Heights High School?

Mysterious...

Cause Washington and Classon is practically the same block by then? And if you want to be pedantic, isn't it technically located in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens?

I am always confused myself about where Crown Heights and Prospect Heights start and end. I live off of Nostrand and Eastern Parkway and I was told the other day that we aren't in Crown Heights that we are Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and then I got a letter from a local group saying were in Prospect Heights and of course everyone in the 'hood considers where we are Crown Heights. Which is it?

When I looked it up, Crown Heights supposedly extends to Atlantic up to Rochester and over to Winthrop. But I am not entirely sure.

I thought that Prospect-Lefferts is bordered by the Park, Eastern Parkway, Nostrand/Rogers, and I dunno, Parkside?

    ETA: Says the Voice:
Boundaries: Empire Boulevard to the north, New York Avenue to the east, Clarkson Avenue to the south, and Prospect Park to the west. The Prospect-Lefferts Gardens Historic District covers most of the area bounded by Sterling Street to the north, Rogers and Nostrand avenues to the east, Fenimore Street. to the south, and Flatbush Avenue to the west.

But during the 1991 *Crown Heights* riots, much of the disorder occurred *south* of Eastern Parkway, near Kingston and Utica Avenues. Folks, this is the stuff that makes our minds tingle with curiosity.

Wrong. Kingston and Utica cross Eastern Parkway. Or do you mean some other streets?

Asking around (the post office), I was told that PLF is the 11225 zip and CH is 11213.
