  • What's on the menu? Where does he usually cook? Is his appearance at Barrette a regular thing?
  • Well one person who'd be going is iwearbarrettes, seeing they work there or own the place.

I don't mind a business posting information, but it looks schlocky if the owner his or her self does it. Owners also run risk of looking like idiots when they interact directly with us merciless barbarians on the lawless, wild web.

Owners should have one of their employees announce/post/advertise the information in a more formal manner, such as "Hey, I represent Restaurant X that's having a taco eating contest tomorrow at 6 PM. Please call 718-XXX-XXXX if you want to sign up."

Business owners, protect yourself from us...really.

    no mas!
  • OMG- Sneaky NOT drinking?!?! Has the planet gone off its axis?!?!!

Shit man, there are a few of us this board that have been trying to spot you, and being that your natural habitat was in a bar, we figured it was just a matter of time...but now look what you've gone and done! Damn. :wtf: [-X :pale:

Even Bukowski had to retire , Dylan Thomas went to the grave with the bottle and hell Malcolm Lowry got drunk in Mexico and never stopped.

yeah! You have most likely seen me, but no more. fucking funny, yeah the Mayan calendar only has a couple more years left and the Earths poles are shifting so as the saying goes i stop drinking and hell is about to freeze! hahaha Its not funny though! I had to hurt a couple of people to realize this.

I wonder what i am going to do now? Watch porn i on XTUBE? but mostly go to the movies, film forum, Bam, Film archives, been watching loads of movies on Netflix, the online selection is quite shitty but glad they have 3 or 4 Fassbinder movies on there. Last night i could not sleep, too depressed to get out of the house, too depressed to do anything, but i got to watch the amazing documentary "How to Draw a Bunny " for the second time. I guess its time for me to become a recluse genius or just walk naked into the Long Island sound in the winter and disappear into the ocean, but not yet i still have a couple of things that need to be done. Anyhow, try to spot me tomorrow at the concert.!! Or at the Metropolitan Museum on Saturday going to see

Photography on Photography: Reflections on the Medium since 1960...So good luck finding me!!

Took out a good old Bukowski book and found this poem i read 12 years ago when i first was going on my early binge on Cheap russian Vodka.

    Delusions of Grandeur

The words are failing me now
and I reach in for a cold one.

    try to guzzle it down
    like Hemingway did long ago.

(sooner or later all of us
    believe that we have something
    important to say)

    anyway the beer keeps flowing
    and words eventually spew out
    after an extended dry spell.

    lifeless ideas,
    dull images,
    unoriginal delivery.

ripping out the pages from the typer
I stagger into the living room.

    looking out I exclaim
    with much fanfare
    to no one at all:

    “this is the best shit
    I ever wrote!”
  • Ah, I LOVE Bukowski.

Damn, do I need to quit now too???
  • is this dinner/beer pairing thing a regular event at barrette? If I knew when it was, I might go.. 15 minutes notice is a little tight.

this is so bogus. this is iwearbarrettes' fourth posting and the fourth one to violate the rule against commercial posts except in the marketplace forum.

in addition to which, it's deceptive not to identify yourself as the owner/manager and pretend this is anything other than an advertisement.

i wish your business well but don't mess with us if you want us to patronize your business.
  • Fucking funny! sometimes managers, owners, Bartenders and what not are afraid to reveal themselves because they think if they do it is a sign of weakness, as if they are asking for you to come because they are afraid that their parties, night won't fill up unless they go incognito. It is reasonable to do that, i do promote places that i like, this one being one of them, i promote places that i dislike too, i promote places that i have been kicked out of, i promote places that i have been fired off, i promote places abroad, like Mariendell's in Munich, la opera in Mexico city, Franken in Berlin, Freeman's in the city even though now i fucking hate the place, just because they have or you have something against you does not mean that they are not good people. Everyone is trying to make a living, it just happens that their business run more risk of losing money that your regular job. So let them be, let them be whatever screen name they want to be, i do agree that if you are going to do that, choose a better screen name if i had a Bar called Sammy's and wanted to post a about a party and my name was ilovesammy's it would be suspicious, right. But each to its own!! Barrette's tiki beach Party is coming up, no grill at Franklin due to the threat of rain and weathered up back yard is open, Soda's slow service still there, plan B Tv 's are there for game, crappy pizza at the factory, over rated Franny's so on and so forth!!

    mmmmmm taco eating contest
  • sneakyonstmarks wrote: You caught the mistake Greek master!! HAHAHHAHA!!
Dylan Thomas, now i have to go back and edit!! Good one!
And Dylan Thomas has exactly what to do with Greek?
  • Nothing !but i know you are the Greek master, nothing to do with An@l you perve!!! You know what i mean? The History channel had a great doc on the asshole who discovered Troy by reading the Odyssey and who married that 16 year old virgin and gave away the treasure to the Nazi's great story!!
  • And Brujeria has exactly what to do with Greek?
  • miss don julio!
  • I did the beer dinner and it was excellent. Enough food and the beer was tasty for a good cost. If only they took credit card... I would have ordered a full beer of 1 of the pairings, cause it was real tasty.

Anyway, I never actually go to the "marketplace" forum, so what does it matter if the owner/manager started a thread. I was looking for the thread or going to start one anyhow.
  • Air Ukalele sounds like fun. Just got back home from there and had a couple of brews the Bartender woman who i think is the owner was nice. The crowd good too , beach party sometime soon i guess. anyone know when?
  • miss don julio!
  • Subject: Anejo's

Could go for a Grilled Cheese ,Jalapeno's and challah bread to cure the blues i brought upon myself!

    12:42 am on Wednesday.
Craving a Don Julio anejo , Barrette is the only place around that has it and then i realized that i have half a bottle at home. Its strange that not many places have decent Tequila, i guess most people think that good Tequila is Patron but not so, just like Sauza 3 Generaciones just fucking nasty. Soda at least has Corazon, Barrette does take the cake for their good selection, when out of Don Julio Anejo, i can switch up to Partida or Chinaco, next i would go for their Herradura and the if they have it which they do sometimes Cazadores. But would love to see them with Agave nectar to take advantage of the good anejo's they have and make an Anejo old fashion, but i think it will be along while till i ever have a drink there again :(
  • Would be nice to sit on the corner and drink a Triple Ale.. Too lazy now, man this Jeopardy tonight was hard.

    E.C I am sorry! :cry::cry::cry:
