Housecleaner
I have officially given up the battle of scheduling time for housekeeping! I'm willing to pay someone else to do it.
Does anyone use someone whom you like? Would you care to share names? I've heard of Si, Se Puede. The concept of the business sounds terrific, but I don't know anything about it specifically.

A lovely woman named Therese does a real number on our apartment every 2 weeks.
She is a recent Polish emigre so sometimes it can be a little hard to talk on the phone in English but I've never had a real problem.
I don't want to post her phone number on a public forum but if you are interested, I can have her contact you. You can email me at:
[email protected] and we can exchange info. -
Try Rosa Cleaner can scrub out your tube into Vatican like marble, even though your tube might look like a Long haired heavy metal fraternity that has been shedding hair on Tub for a year!

ive been thinking about this too, but am a bit surprised by the prices.
one bedroom apt: $90 (wecandoit), $96 (4 hour minimum, neatfreaks).
how the heck could one spend 4 hours cleaning an average one bedroom? i was thinking 2 hours, around $20 per hour.
what are people paying? -
I have had Neatfreaks in and they do an excellent job. I asked that the kitchen been done as much as possible... she didn't miss a spot. Had them come back once more since then and it was still done very well... meaning they are at least consistent. That matters the most I think. The kitchen and bathroom usually take the most time. Believe me, you want that.

I don't know how much money you make, but I make more than $20/hr. If I'm asking someone to come into my house when I'm not there, I want to make sure that the person coming in is sufficiently compensated so that my things (and my personal information) won't become a temptation.

very curious logic.
- an extra $10-20 per hour turns a bad person into a good one?
- should we simply pay off all potential thieves?
- an extra $10-20 per hour offsets the most valuable item in your home?
- what does one's income have to do with what a house cleaner is worth?
i better start tipping at mcdonalds so they dont spit in my food. in fact perhaps i should start giving away money to every under-privileged person so they dont kill me. -
I've also been very pleased with Neat Freaks. Salisha (the owner) runs a tight ship and cares very much about quality and customer service; every person she's sent has been very nice and incredibly thorough. Thumbs up from here!

do these places bring their own supplies or are you supposed to have everything they need?

It is known amoungst fraud investigators that someone who feels undercompensated for their work will be more likely to steal than someone who is being paid what they perceive to be a fairly. Poor wages won't turn an honest person into a thief, but someone who might steal is more inclined to if they feel they are "entitled" to more than they are receiving. I learned this while studying to become a fraud investigator, and unfortunately, during my career i have seen that it is a very strong motivator.
I wouldn't go so far as to give money to every under-priveledged person, but being decent to the people who come into your home and clean your crap up after you might not be a bad idea. -

i am all for being decent to EVERYONE and contibuting what i can to EVERYONE being fairly compensated for their work.
however, i am NOT for paying people extra simply because they are in a position to do me harm.
i was simply hoping to get several reports of what people are paying... -
Just a quick update to this topic. I contacted Si Se Puede and scheduled an appointment with Anita. She came this afternoon, and I must say my place sparkles. She spent just under four hours on my 1-bed, 1-bath apartment and cleaned just about every surface. I was here the whole time and she worked her patootie off.
I consider myself a good housekeeper (when I do it) but she put me to shame. She somehow even makes my partner's clutter look neat and well organized.
Best $90 (which works out to about $20-something/hr.) I've spent in a long time.
