  • Subject: Zaytoon's

Zaytoon's on Vanderbilt has hookahs that you can smoke in their back garden.
  • Cool thanks!
  • If you want to buy your own they are only like $30 for one like this one:

The little box of tobacco is only $4 and it will last you about a month if smoke a few times a day.The two apple is good.

A box of coal (100 pcs.) is about $12-$14.

  • Serious question: why is hookah not covered by the smoking ban?

The last time I was in Zaytoons, we were unfortunately really put off by the smell from the hookas. And, despite the water "filtration" when you got a half dozen of those things puffin' around you, there's smoke in the air no matter what
  • If you don't like smoke why would you go to a place that serves hookah? I'm not trying to be a dick, I just don't see the logic.
  • 1. bristen's (on franklin) has hookahs

    2. i've only seen hookahs outside at zaytoons or bristens. do they use them inside? (nasty.)

    3. someone (like me) who doesn't like smoke and whose asthmatic lungs aren't big fans either might go to a place with hookahs because the food (etc.) is good and the restaurant choices in a given area are not infinite. is that hard to imagine?

I didn't know that they had hookah when I made plans to go. I certainly haven't been back, which is too bad because I thought that the food was good.

I do wonder, though, why hookah is not covered under the indoor smoking ban.

the law says that if an establishment makes at least 10% (I think that's the number) of its revenue from tobacco, it can have smoking inside. That's why you see cigar and hookah bars.

edit: also, the water isn't for 'filtration'. It cools the smoke.
  • bars should sell ciggerettes, at there current cost its possible that it would make 10% of there revenue, they we could smoke in bars like the good ole days. ;)
  • i thought the hookah smoking at zaytoons was only outside in the back garden. whenever i've eaten in the restaurant i've never seen or smelled a hookah.
