Did anyone else notice the coat of tar someone put over the cablebox out on Underhill? I assume the perp did it to keep the kids that hang out there from banging on it at all hours... it probably gets pretty sticky after a day in the heat. I've got to say i admire the creativity.

  • yea, kind of hilarious and surprisingly effective. about two days later there were all sorts of old phone cards on the ground that they used to scrape all the stuff off.
  • It could also probably be considered criminal mishcief, a crime.
  • Well - as someone whose been woken more than once by the dulcet sound of screaming and banging on that thing, it's a crime I can get behind.
  • CHICKEN GREASE!!!

old smelly chicken grease!!! hard and sticky used chicken grease!!!

that's what worked before and it stayed on the cable box until the rain and snow washed it off. :D
  • wow, this sounds almost bizarre..

Why do kids like pounding on this particular box? Do they do it just to piss off the local neighbors? Is there no other motive for it at all? Crazy...

Even crazier that this sounds to be an on-going, pitched battle. Just....weird..
  • The younger teens like flocking around this cable box and making noise. The older teens prefer loitering in front of the Haunted Mansion on Lincoln Place.

The younger teens are a pest and sometimes form large mobs of 20 or more. Now that school is out and the hot weather has arrived, many like to flee their overcrowded apartments and socialize in the streets.

Chicken grease is the best cable box teen repellent but I'm sure they don't like getting tar all over their precious clothes either.

Maybe the corner building on Lincoln/Underhill should install one of those ultrasonic teen repellents that emit an irritating sound only young people can hear..
  • Parade rest - where does the law stand on Chicken Greese?

I would think that it would technically be at least Criminal Tampering.
