EGGS BERRIE at the Cortelyou FARMERS MARKET, this SUND — Brooklynian

EGGS BERRIE at the Cortelyou FARMERS MARKET, this SUND

Hello -

This week neighborhood band La Strada will be playing in the P.S 139 playground from 10am to 12pm. Check them out!

We're still a week or two away from summer's signature crops - corn and field tomatoes -- at the Cortelyou farmers market but there is rich variety of vegetables from our three vegetable farmers. Green beans, yellow wax beans, lots of lettuce, and summer squashes of many shapes, colors and sizes, herbs. Also, this week we'll have another repeat of last week's summer fruit explosion: truly tasty blueberries from Hodgsons (on the Cortelyou/Argle corner) and Red Jacket's signature apricots and raspberries and the unique BLACK RASPBERRY.

Also, this might be the last week to pick up CALLALOO a.k.a. amaranth greens from Jorge Carmona. Other easy to miss items include ARUGULA with plenty of spice from John Schmid of Muddy Rivers. And PURSLANE - from Jorge Carmona of Amantai Farms and Victor Pavia of El Mirador -- a succulent leafy green "that can be eaten fresh as a salad, or cooked like spinach." It's a tasty addition to your salad - plus it's high in those essential omega 3 fatty acids!

And believe it or not but Knoll Krest will be coming this Sunday with EGGS and fresh pasta.

Stop by the information table for a free Greenmarket tatoo ... temporary, of course!

****The market is located on Cortelyou Road between Argyle and Rugby Streets. We're open from 8am to 4pm.
