LOS PINCHES MUERTOS!
Taqueria on Washington between St Marks and Prospect. Its called los muertos and its fucking cute, skulls included, spoke to the owner earlier today and they will have a liquor license, frozen margaritas and the works. They will be open in 2 weeks, the menu looks good, i just hope that they marinate their meats otherwise we'll end up with bland food like Bonita and la Taqueria. So check this place out, really excited about it, I hope they have a decent Tequila selection!

bad sign. if they have a decent tequila selection, they shouldn't ruin them with frozen margaritas, a bastardization invented by overpriced beach resorts to charge more money for more ice and less tequila. the classic margarita is up and you can taste the anejo.
let's hope for something more authentic and less mexi-themed, more chavela, less burrito bar. -
um. let's chill til the joint opens. me? I want something like taqueria matamoros crossed with rosa mexicana. why? I want good food, that is both "authentic" and higher end, and, of course, a fucking awesome bar selection. last time I was in cuernavaca my mother and I took over a hotel bar with johnny cash and margaritas (on ice - not froz) with tamarindo sugar rims on the glasses. delicious. oh. and there was cabrito involved.

sorry, the frozen margaritas just set off my bullshit alarm. vamos a ver.

cannot tell if its pretty close to opening or not; however, a tasteful awning has been installed in the past few days.

well, I am hopeful. STAY POSITIVE.

Fast forward to 2014:
They have now been open and serving crowds for 6 years.
But today, they are on vacation. That is spray paint, and I can imagine the smile on the owner's face as he applied it.
Howdy, Stranger!
