  • I'm in. the Q goes to coney. how about I meet y'all with a bottle of vodka from tatiana? I hear taht's how you get hooked up there.
  • Christina wrote: I still vote for the Coney Island ride one Friday.
It's a flat road all the way, there's the Cyclone at the end, along with funnel cake, fireworks in the sand, and fantastic Russian food at the boardwalk restaurants all named Tatiana.
That's funny, I rode to Brighton Beach, went for a swim and had a tasty lunch at one of the Tatiana's just yesterday afternoon on a rare Friday off.

I do this surf-N-turf o spin-n-swim almost every weekend and it's a nice, easy ~6 mile ride from Prospect Park. There's nothing better than following that up with a swim, but I guess we wouldn't do that on a Friday night. We'll get rained on by fireworks casings.

Sounds like yesterday's ride was a blast. How many ppl were there?
  • not sure about the bike ride (I was busy not getting killed - thank you savior jeffrey) but after party had about 14 ppl. and chicken rings.
  • 11-12 the first lap, then we picked up 4 more on the second (utter radomness!).

    FP- 'bout 13-14.
  • 13 on the ride, with the occasional lurker joining us occasionally.

Yeah you can swim, but not after 8pm or whenever it gets dark. Shame you can't go skinny dipping there. ...or can you?

you realize skinny dipping would both reveal how eek I am under my clothing and reinforce our not relationship? while I love you dearly, darlin', I ain't getting nekkid in front of the board.
  • ride stats:

    distance: 8.3 miles
    avg speed 11.5 mph
    max speed 26 mph
    raccoons sighted: 2 (big ones!!)
chicken rings consumed: 4 sacks? 6 sacks?

Good times during and post-ride! And I'm definitely in for a Coney Island jaunt.
  • Carnivore wrote: [quote=caaahyoko]And next to chicken rings, funnel cake is the second best post-ride food. :chef:
    Ahem...

    Nathan's???

    Totonno's???

Ok, a Nathan's with powered sugar on it.

I don't know what was in that um...Rose, but I suddenly remembered that I think at some point I uttered the sentence, "I just sit there by myself like a sad sack of tit-tatos." hahahaha. Where did that word come from??? Yikes!

there were 4 community sacks of rings from those awesome, circular chickens. but I think some folks pillaged WYW's and canrivore's special orders (this is why AFN asks the tough questions like "don't you WANT your very own sack of burgers?") unfortunately, due to imminent violence at WC no orders could be taken by AFN past 12:15. so, point being that I think some people had a like a ring or two and some had like 20k. (carnivore! granted, he DID order his own sack. and his chzburgers which officially makes him a LOL cat)

I hear WYW had a few burgers leftover this AM for breakfast. and who (hint, me) regretted not buying a few jalapeno chicken ring sandys for when my stupid eyes opened at 9:50 this am? (WTF!) those things are awesome cold and still hermetically preserved on your counter.

Actually, they are still in the fridge. I had to eat healthy this morning.

Some roomie will come along and eat them...thankfully.

If you didn't get your fill last night, you can go tonight, but at 9pm. However, remember midnight is much more fun than 9pm.
  • Lots of fun!

Can't wait for the next one - down to Coney Island or wherever!

Oh no they didn't!!!! Peh- 9pm....pussies.

We are SO more hard core than they are!

Well in fairness, they do need to get back in time for Matlock...

I bet WC isn't anywhere nearly as exciting at 8:45 p.m. lame.

4 random people picked up ... and dropped off.
    Who were very curious.

    No random joggers?

One pack of random people who felt like they were entitled to the entire path.

One big coney thing knocked over! HooWoo!

One speed on my bike. One speed on Caah's too, I believe. Which would explain why we took turns with WYW. Haha.

One random cop SUV rolling up and overtaking us on the path. Utterly disinteresting, they were, I was disappointed.

    One brake failure. Not mine.

Did anyone crash on the way home, AHEM. Not naming names.

One flat tire of mine. But not until FP, so it was a short walk. But one black guy asked me if I was a "playa," while I was walking my bike home at 2AM. I went with, "Um, no." Three guys sitting on my stoop, one if which I knew. He said, "nice bike," I said it would be nicer if it had air in the tire. One kid awake to undo the bar locks and let me in, which is 100% better than last time. Haha.

Wait, I seem to have gotten off into personal stats. Anyway.

Second ride, two laps. So is the third ride three laps?

  • daver wrote: Second ride, two laps. So is the third ride three laps?

No! The last thing we want is for this to turn in exercise.

I say if we're going to try to improve on any of our stats, it should be for number of sacks of chicken rings consumed. And we should really probably get a crave case next time.

And the time after that, we have to go for the crave crate.

One random jogger...a male this time. Running pretty much the same stretch where we saw random female jogger last time. Hereafter known as "perceived invincibility alley"

    We should kick their ass.

My sources informed me that Critical Mass was out on EP (pissing everyone off) the same time we were spinning around in circles.
Those are the asses we should be kicking. Them and those 9pm riders....

And stop talkin' bout how slow I am on that hill, dammit! A girl just needs a distraction going up that thing!

Uh, kinda, but not really, unfortunately. Actually, I was on the fixed gear side of my hub. That's why I was spinning like a hamster in a wheel down the big hill. And why y'all blew past me while coasting serenely. Next time I think I'll be bringing the 8 speed (the little red folder).

    Oh, and don't forget--Number of tires pumped--2.
Right? (I arrived mid-pumping and may have missed some pumpage)

Yes, you missed some earlier, um, "pumpage."

I believe the number of pumped tires was four, although the number of pumpees was two. Each with two tires. For pumping. Right, WYW?

Correct. 3 or 4 (hey Zigs!).

Ok- must move on to Coney Island Bike Ride Extravaganza...
  • next time, jeffrey drives - screw the environment and my concern for his personal safety - and we do a drive thru crave case and SIX sacks of rings, plus personal orders. and everyone puts a deposit into paypal for me ahead of time since I don't think I can drink enough to have y'all cover that tab (considering 10 burgers, 4 bacon chz, 2 chz and 5 sacks of rings was $50+). and no, I'm not willing to try to drink that much!

    hah, that's awesome.

Can't wait for Coney Island.. hopefully I won't flake out this time...
  • I confess to eating several of Carnivore's chicken rings. He can not be blamed for eating all four sacks.

Sniff. Now you're making me feel guilty. I totally should have given you more for the 10 or so rings I ate! I didn't realize they were that expensive. How much are those bags of chicken rings anyhow?
  • no worries - I think I totally got covered btwn cash and booze (probably more than, considering the whole potential loss of life issue). I'm just sayin' - we raise the amounts of stuff, I'll grab it. I'm that nice. but. I'm also no longer that overworked law firm employee with endless piles of cash. I'd say *weep* but I do not miss that at all. well, except for the cash part. so ... yeah.
