Subject: What's the story with E 18th St & Church Ave?

And more importantly, what is the area like? I am going to see an apartment there later this week but I would love any insight people have into the area as well as what neighborhood it is. Thank you!

  • Kent Gonzalez, a 38-year-old black male, was shot in the chest and stomach early Friday at the corner of Church Avenue and East 17th Street in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, according to a story in the Daily News. He was taken by his friends to Kings County Hospital where he died hours later.

Police said they believed Gonzalez' friends had witnessed the shooting but were not cooperating with the police, according to the News story. No arrests.
  • If you want to live in the ghetto, go ahead and move there. It's not too safe, and you probably won't be getting much sleep.
  • That all sounds HORRIBLE! Is it really much better just two blocks south at Beverly? What about Along Ocean--I am seeing lots of apartments available on Ocean Ave.

That is really tragic abotu Kent.
  • I live on Ocean near Foster and love it.
  • No question that it is better as you move down ocean ave towards blocks like foster, ave H J and better further down but of course the further down Ocean the more subway stops back in to Manhattan and that might be a consideration for some.
