Awww, you know I got your back. Shall text you!
Thanks darlin'! I'll be down there at 8pm waiting.

Nathan's (meeting point) is at the corner of Stillwell and Surf Avenues, right by the big subway stop, in Coney Island.
Tatiana is on the Boardwalk in Brighton Beach - about a 10 minute walk past the amusement parks and the Aquarium.
I say let's get the hot dog, fireworks, rides and funnel cake business out of the way first, then walk over to BB and enjoy the rest of the night with decent food and vodka/beer/whatever at Tatiana - it's going to be great, lots of Russian families and every stereotype you've ever imagined... -
Sorry, that embedding business didn't work out after all

do they have beer at nathan's? someone is concerned about boredom.

I seem to remember _someone_ saying midnight rides in Prospect Park were a bad idea too, and look how THAT turned out!
Er...
I still think midnight rides in PP are a bad idea, if you go by yourself! I'm not sure that there's any safety margin gained by a group ride when it comes to drunk-biking in traffic.
On the other hand, I checked out the Tatiana site...from the sounds of it, everyone should be able to hitch a ride home in the limos of style-seeking celebrities...so long as you shave!
"Ladies hang on to your husbands and guys don't forget to shave, because there are plenty of people to impress. You do not need a red carpet invitation to see city's top fashion worn in style and such sex appeal that is even desired by many celebrities." (emphasis theirs). -
I'll be sure to snag whoever.

Oh, dear, I think I'm going to puke.
I dated a Russian girl once. For her best friend's brithday, she dragged me to this dreadful windowless Russian banquet hall under the F in Coney Island, where they made me eat cow tongue and this ochre-colored gelatinous nastiness that somehow passed for "food" while watching this awfully kitchy (not in the good way) live show of some sort, laughing at me every time I politely declined their offerings of straight vodka.
Can I skip Tatiana's? -
wait. you're ditching me with a 'hopefully' bottle of veuve? NO! it's not vodka and I'm not russian, goddamnit!

Yes, Nathan's serves beer. -
Hey, Alfy, I'll join you on the Q as I am also bikeless.
Not so hot on the idea of Tatiana's myself. I don't like Russian food, and since I can't drink anymore, there's really no point. A nondrinking bar crawl can be fun in the right mindset, but going boozeless to a Russian restaurant is just depressing. Plus any "celebrities" you might pick up there are probably connected to the Russian mob, FYI.
To bring this post to an end on a lighter note, guess what I found?

Yes, a way for us temporarily unemployed to save money on rides! Download, print and clip!
So Alfy, where and when are we bikeless people to meet you? -
So do you guys think we'll be going anywhere that I can't bring my bike in? Just wondering if I should drag my lock along.
-
Bring your lock. You can't take the bike on the Cyclone.
As for the Russian evening, I was picturing relaxing at one of the outside tables on the boardwalk. They have non-Russian food as well.
I don't think I can join the glitzy indoor disco activities in my sweaty bike clothes, especially not when I hold a bike seat and a helmet. -
Oh, I didn't realize y'all wanted to go on rides. That's cool with me.
But speaking of holding a bike seat--can we hold bike seats and helmets and ride the Cyclone?
-
You guys are going to have so much fun! Take lots of pictures!
I'll be playing tourist guild for my sister
-
Bring your sister to Coney Island friday night and run into us "by chance".
-
Ruh oh! I don't have a lock yet. I may nto be able to go with you guys. Or maybe I will just go and do the turnaround thing.
-
Bollocks! We can lock them all together. That shouldn't stop you!
-
I'm so excited about this!
See y'all at GAP @ 8pm on Friday!
A beach field trip - yay! -
Okay! All systems seem a go for me. I will let y'all know if I can't. So exciting!
-

They will let you "check" them.
-
or you can dump them with whoever is sitting wherever drinking.
-
I hate imposing. Midwestern politeness. But I may take someone up on that. We'll see how the evening unfolds....
I may have to swing by here though

The fireworks start at 9:30. Last Friday night, the line at Nathan's was really long, so leave yourselves plenty of time.
There's a free coupon for a free hot dog with the purchase of one at the regular price at http://www.nathansfamous.com/PageFetch/getpage.php?pgid=35 .
Mustard and sauerkraut goes on a New York hot dog! -
cripes.

Oooh hell no. WTF? Dammit!
Ok. I'm just getting it out now so that if I go I won't have to take it out on any of you guys.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I prefer mustard and relish on hot dogs myself, but sauerkraut will do in a pinch. I share Carnivore's disdain for ketchup.
So when/where are the bikeless going to meet? -
Q train, 8:15, front end. if that fails - just get on if everyone isn't there - meet at nathan's.
-
If its a reeeeally long line at Nathans, that BBQ place I mentioned above is right down the street.
Its part of Beer Island
http://beerislandconeyisland.com/directions.html
Come on, its called Beer Island!!
-
Sounds like I'm the only one who could care less about the hot dog part :-)
-
So what's the deal? Have the times and places been set yet?
Howdy, Stranger!
