Peaches Market Cafe — Brooklynian

Peaches Market Cafe

Haven't been able to make it over there, but can anyone say if it's a good option for a take-out lunch? i'm an unfortunately busy guy who usually has to run out there and get something to eat. I've got their flyer staring me in the face right now and want to "fall in love with American again."

  • Dude- do it and let us know how it is.
  • Looks like they were (are?) still in the preview mode. Cruised by yesterday and was told that the actual opening isn't until Friday the 18th for dinner. I guess lunch will start after that. It looks promising!
  • Sorry where is it?
  • 393 Lewis Ave. at the Corner of MacDonough (sp.?) Street. It's where Petit Bassam used to be.
  • Yeah they seemed to be open for a preview last Friday when I walked past. There was a line outside, but their website says they don't officially open until the 18th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they open on-time :-)
  • I wish I could find a 2 bedroom in that area! None of the 2 bedrooms are equal-ish in size. I am totally bummed!!
  • I am heading over to Peaches tonight with my boyfriend and a friend of ours...will report tomorrow!
  • It's not open for lunch (yet), but has a really affordable takeout section. I accidentally found it open last Thursday and picked up a delicious $6 catfish sandwich -- was the last customer and also got some potato salad and one of the most delicious brownies ever thrown in. Can't believe this is finally open and serving good food -- and can't wait for them to start serving brunch.
  • My report:

We had supper on Wednesday night and between the 3 of us, we got to sample quite a bit of the menu. For apps, we split a watermelon salad (with pickled ginger), BBQ shrimp with coconut rice and fried green tomatoes. The watermelon salad and tomatoes were truly crave-worthy. The coconut rice was yummy and the shrimp were good, if maybe a little on the sweet side (molasses in the sauce?). For entrees, we shared the rice + beans (with pulled pork and andouille sausage), crawfish gumbo and the ribeye steak. All were tasty and the portion size was perfect...the steak was actually a bit on the large side.

We were also fans of the homemade lemonade!

Total bill for 3 apps, entrees and lemonades: $66 before tip.

Our waitress was really sweet and accommodating, too, as one of our party was almost an hour late :-(
