  • I haven't read all 3 pages so if this is a repeat....

    FYI:

Serious Eats Meet-Up: Sunday July 27 at the Red Hook Ball Fields

As you may know, the Red Hook ball field vendors are back, and we thought this weekend would be a great time for a Serious Eats eating expedition and meet-up. This Sunday, July 27, at 12:30 p.m., join Ed Levine and the Serious Eats gang at the ball fields in Red Hook, Brooklyn, for some pupusas, huaraches, soccer tacos, ceviche, elote, and more. It's the perfect place for a gathering of serious eaters. And you'll be helping the vendors pay off the debts they racked up bringing their operation up to code.

  • I heard the weather wasn't going to be great on Sunday and also....that's going to draw lots of folks. Maybe. So, I'm still happy with our Saturday. Who cares about 'serious eats'? We are JUST as serious about eating as they are.

We need to get you some wheels! Do you have some rollerskates?...you could hang on to the back of someone's seat! Whheeeeee!

(I suppose they could be rollerblades, but the last time I hitched a ride that way, rollerblades hadn't been invented yet.)

didn't you see my skinned knee? I fall down when walking (granted, dead drunk) - rollerblading is dangerous. I've asked caaahyako (sp - sorry babe) to help me find a fold up bike on ebay. I just don't have the space in my apt for anything full size or anything that can jam up b/c of a twig, no way.
  • Only you guys would appreciate why this thread title made me laugh:

    LOCK YOU BIKES!
  • Which begs the question. Do you have a mirror on you bike?

I can't. It gets in the way when I fold you bikes.
  • Ok, so are we planning to meet at 4:30 at the ball field then? At what particular landmark are we meeting?

I'm going to see if I can come down with MK, but I can't call yet because he's sleeping now.
  • I just talked to MK. He can't make it as he's recording this afternoon.
  • I hope everyone who came had a good a time as I did. Food was great, Hope and Anchor was great, and...that last place....Why do I always forget the name!?!?!? So glad we found it (it wasn't just a figment of my imagination)

Big Guy- we MUST get updates on Little Bird! Start a thread- STAT!
  • Sorry I couldn't make it... so sleeeeeeepy............
  • grrr why didnt i see this earlier! i was at the ballfields saturday and left around 3ish. my friends and i are making it a weekly thing til they stop doing it. i recommend the huruaches and grilled corn, got that this weekend and wowzers.
  • I wasn't impressed with the food this time, maybe that's due to the fact that we were so late and they had run out of the good stuff already? Including hot sauce!

WYW the last stop for us was called "Moonshine", unless of course you are referring to that wine bar we found on the way - or the ever so wonderful Pizzatown...
  • oh. I also kinda had to battle it out, even though I asked 3 times, in spanish, for chile, lime and salt on my mango. kinda got some shit for it from the vendors. they seem more harried and confused. they basically only put chile on it and not much, kinda yucky and soft, too.

not that I was feeling well or anything but things that make me feel comforted are usually welcomed by my belly.

good thing no one had jicama. I would have gotten a little pissy if I couldn't have gotten that properly preped.

Even more bummed now that ya'lls went to Moonshine afterwards. That is one of my favorite bars to not even haveta spend $20 at the whole night.

Uhhh...there was a wine bar??

    Noooo...you're pulling my leg!

Moonshine! Missed the peanuts though...why would they get rid of them?

Yea, rtraindweller- next time we roll that way, Moonshine is a required stop.
  • On the way back from Moonshine we passed this place on Union...remember... I really wanted pizza...you really wanted wine...
  • Ahhh...don't I always...

Roomie told me the slice I had at Pizza Town is called the Sophia Loren. Hot.
  • Excellent, as it should be! That is a drag about the lack of peanuts. But hey at least the grills are back!
