Hotels in area?
I'm brand-spankin' new to Prospect Heights and I'm loving it. Even more than I love my mom and sister-in-law. They're coming to visit and I'd rather not have them stay in our apartment. Actually, they'd probably rather not either.
Where is the closest, most decent hotel in the neighborhood? Will they have to stay in Downtown Brooklyn? If so, is there a bus that can route them to and fro our place on Plaza Street?

Try the Bed and Breakfast on Carlton between Park and Prospect. Very nice people and nice short walk from you.
Good luck -
Thanks!

There are usually some posts on renting an apartment for a week on the PH Parents and northslope groups - I can pass your info on to them if that interests you also. Good luck and have fun with your family

If the Carlton B and B is full or you want them to be a little further away, the Akwaaba Mansion (could be spelled Akwaba) is gorgeous. The block itself is beautiful, as is the actual building. Also, it's close to a great coffee shop (Bread Stuy) and a new restaurant (Peaches). It is a bit of trek to PH, but not further than downtown, I don't think. Just in the other direction. Buses all over the place....

if you do a search of the site i know that somewhere i posted a huge list of b&bs in the area

There's also the Sofia Inn (http://www.brooklynbedandbreakfast.net/ )
on Park between Underhill and Butler. My parents stayed there for 2 nights this June, and it was very convenient for all of us, especially since it's so close to the Q train. They liked the room but didn't love it. You might want to check out the rooms in person. -
Not sure of the prices and such but just thought I'd mention the newish hotel on 4th Ave near 5th or 6th St, I think. Hotel le bleu.

I was going to mention Bleu as well. I hear it's pretty decent inside. You should probably go there and ask to see a room.

Give them a call, last time I tried to call them they told me they were renovating and it would be closed until further notice
