cheapish mani/pedi?

That place on 5th, right across from the Key Food.

OOOH! Had mani/pedi at that place this spring and it was more like 60 bucks, and not for the super deep cleaning scrape half your foot off kind. Was good, and I got a one level higher than the regular pedi, but not the super "European" pedi. I might be remembering this price with tip included, but I know it was between fifty and sixty. I'm gonna try a cheap-ish looking place up the street from me tomorrow on Kingston. I see a mix of folks in there whenever I walk by--Hassidic, West Indian, Latin, and figure that's a good sign. Let you know. Of course it'll cost you two bucks on the bus to get here, but that's not so bad. You can walk your pretty feet down St. John's to Franklin and get a beer at FP on your way home!

There's element on fifth between st marks and prospect. I've never been but have friends who go there often. They have a weekday mani/pedi combo for $30 I believe which is a little more than you quoted but maybe it fits your budget?

Polish is the place across from Keyfood and they are a $20 basic mani/pedi. Q Beauty Nails which is two doors down has the same price. I've been to both places, I think Polish does a better pedi (don't get mani's often b/c they just don't last with me), but Q takes appointments and they stick to them. However Q is also brand new so everything is bright, shiny and clean. I'm probably going to go back there for the appointment factor.

PLAZA NAILS on Montague street! SO CHEAP, SO CLEAN ,BEST MASSAGE CHAIRS AND THE NICEST GIRLS that work there!
And, i always get amazing mani's and peds! -
Can anyone recommend a mani/pedi for around $20 in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill area? A clean place with pleasant service would be nice. Thanks!

not the cheapest, at $20 for a pedi and $10 for a mani, but I find that Young and Martha at Royal Nail and Spa on Flatbush near 8th Avenue and the Chase Bank do a fantastic job.....the chairs and environment are nice, they take their time and include a bit of massage in each one.....
-
Last night I had a manicure at Dashing Diva on Smith....their basic mani is $15, compared to the $10 that Royal charges....and aside from the fact that every thing they use on you at Diva comes in a sealed package (they autoclave their instruments between uses), the ladies at Royal do a better job. Just thought I'd mention it.

I was strolling down Vanderbilt earlier and saw that Polish is opening up a storefront between Prospect and Park (or St Marks? I wasn't paying that much attention).

I saw a quick report on them on WB11 News this morning they said they have $10 mani's... and its all Eco Friendly.
They had a write up in Daily Candy as well:

Wink and a Nod
Wink Eco Beauty Bar Opens
When it comes to newsy buzzwords, green talk is gold.
And putting a little eco in the economy is the new Wink Eco Beauty Bar in Prospect Heights.
From waterless detox pedicures to Green Glama body treatments, the menu of 40 services is as sustainable as the rehab of this sunny storefront. Note the biodegradable slippers; natural cleaning solutions; and vegan products free of parabens, formaldehyde, and other toxins.
Organic scrubs are mixed at the apothecary bar to stay (see: Soul Shine body polish treatment) or to go. Fanny facials, seaweed wraps, and massages are enhanced with clay, salts, sugars, herbs, and essential oils.
Dark wood and cool green walls create an all-around tranquil urban forest vibe. Request a treatment room overlooking the garden.
And save yourself the trouble of hearing about current events.
Wink Eco Beauty Bar, 602 Vanderbilt Avenue, between Prospect Place and St. Mark’s Avenue, Prospect Heights (718-230-3443). Appointments available now for Saturday-April 6; regular hours start April 7.

The report wason WINK Eco Beauty Bar....not Polish. I saw it this morning too...and got the Daily Candy email on Monday. I'm gonna try them out in a week or two.

The Polish Bar place on Vanderbilt doesn't seem to be related to Polish on 5th Ave...at least not price-wise.
Any reliable places on Washington/Franklin? I only ask because they all look dirt-cheap, but I do need a mani/pedi that will last for a week...and I almost never do manis or pedis so I haven't checked them out myself.
Also, how many of the above places are open until at least 8pm? (Not counting Wink, too expensive). It takes me a full hour sometimes to get home from work, damn trains...and I don't want to go tomorrow because it's too early...might chip off by the weekend. -
$20 for a great pedi with massage chair and scarping and all the good stuff at Rompal Salon on 6th Avenue and 3rd Street

i second this question - i tried the place on franklin near lincoln and it had chipped by the end of that night. the place seemed not set up to do natural nails. they wore face masks to paint my real nails and i would NEVER take off my shoes in that place. i would hate to walk over to vandy for an over-priced place.

I like Ding Ya on Nostrand between Atlantic and Herkimer. It's $15 for a mani/pedi (will go up to $17 when their grand opening special ends). The people who work there are all really sweet and nice. It's brand new and clean and has the awesome massage chairs!
Howdy, Stranger!
