good place for writing group to meet?

Does anyone know a good place in the hood where my writing group could meet? There are four of us and we need a place with decent light, not too loud, where we can hang out and discuss for a few hours. Any good diners or chill restaurants that are open late, or at least until midnight? Thanks.

  • depends on weather and day of the week, but franklin park is good has worked for my group. also soda, but that was during the day.
  • You guys got any open slots? What sort of writing?
  • sorry; my group is closed. there must be tons around here, though.
  • Thanks, sweet tea. Franklin Park is an interesting idea. I haven't been there yet but I'm looking forward to checking it out. We tried Soda once, but it was at night and it was a bit too dark and the music was a bit too loud.

OTB, we are a screenwriting group. Currently closed but things change from time to time. Is screenwriting your thing?

Any other suggestions for meeting spots?
  • Noo-Na maybe? I've never seen it really crowded.

Tavern on Dean has a little backyard that might be nice.
Prospect Perk Cafe but I don't know if they are open late.
  • You could always just go to the library too as long as you guys aren't too loud, and depending on when you meet. I meet all the way up at Columbus Circle in Manhattan for my writer's group which...sucks. Its farther than I travel for work during the week.
  • piggy backing on the late-night coffee topic, you guys could totally meet up at the outpost cafe on fulton / grand. just a block or so outside the borders of the nabe, but they have beer / wine / coffee / food and are open till 11. and an outside area while it's still summer!
