Were those gun shots I heard around Underhill & Park around 11:20pm this evening, 8/16/2008?

    those were a lotta shots if they were gun shots. i'm hoping it was random fireworks testing.

    They were fireworks being lit by the mosque on Bergen and between Washington and Grand, don´t get so paranoid please, i saw them, it was like 10 of them, relax, its not a war zone, not yet, till the hipster start a war against the soccer moms and stroller couples!

    Yeah, I think it was actually part of the block party on Bergen between Classon and Grand (there's a thread about it on the CH board) -- when it started I peeked out the window and I couldn't see where they were setting them off but the crowd looked like they were watching fireworks, not gunshots.

    Sure sounded like it at first though!

    yup, that was first thought as well. ..there were too many of them to be gunshots. I'm glad my optimism was right.

    I was walking my dog at Underhill and St. Johns, and a lot of folks on the street were wondering what they were heaing.

    A mosque lighting firworks in rythmic fashion huh? That'l give the GOP election day fodder. The last time I heard pops like that in synch I was caught in a crossfire in front of Erasmus HS. I don't thonk anyone can be blamed for hitting he deck during the explosions. They really did synch (except for the last two) like gun fir.

    They're at it again, and it's definitely between Classon and Grand, not on the next block by the mosque.

    And yeah, I got choked up watching Michael Phelps just now too. I LOVE watching his mom watch him swim!

    but whats up with bob costas? i havent seen him in 10+ years and he still looks exactly the same, except more unctuous. i NEED his surgeon! or, whomever is keeping dara torres looking so fabu:-)

    Hipster Tip: Actually, a stroller lined with styrofoam can be quite useful for carrying a large amount of beer, say to a loft party or outdoor Vampire Weekend concert. Just throw a colorful blanket over your stash, and coo as you waltz by security. Looks like baby won't be the only one sleeping it off!
