Keyfoods on Washington - shouting matches
I shall preface this by saying I only saw the aftermath on both occasions so I don't know how it started.
Having said that, I have in the past week seen two instances of the proprietors of Keyfoods on Washington Ave having long shouting matches with I assume now former customers about something or other. One time dragging off down Lincoln Place for a good five minutes. Really load angry shouting and not exactly nice language either from either side.
Also, in a not entirely unconnected but just curious way... How does one afford a Maserati and a Bentley running a Keyfoods?

Business expense. You need a couple of express delivery vehicles, don't you? -
I have seen shouting matches between the owners and vendors, but not between owners and customers.
The ones I've witnessed between owners and vendors have been pretty, loud and curse filled. Apparently they don't care if the customers see... -
I've talked about them on another thread. They simply do not care about their business. I think the only reason they do reasonably well is because its relatively decent and convenient for many in the area. I threatened to leave them once I found another store I could conveniently go to, and I have since found the Associated on Franklin, south of EP. Haven't been back since. I was a ten-year customer.
-
Really? I've only been there about 4 times since I moved to the area but they've been nice to me, said goodbye on the way out, asked me if I found everything ok. Seriosuly.
-
I'm not sure which is the lesser of two evils, the Keyfood on Flatbush, or the Keyfood on Washington. The Met on Vanderbilt is just okaaay, but certainly can be counted on for the basics. Wish that they had a better selection of grains, but that's another story. I haven't been to the other market on Washington, and from the writing on other threads, I don't think that I want to.
Although I think that they got rid of the surliest of cashiers over at the Flatbush Keyfoods. Either that, or she quit. But I like to imagine that it wasn't her choice to leave, because it makes me feel better. -

AH they probably have a lot also. -
Hmm, well having a car lot would help to explain it. Nothing like a bit of free publicity. But I wouldn't want to park them there, asking to have them ruined one day!

They can afford Maserati's and Bentley's because they are ripping the neighborhood off. They never have prices on anything. The meathead owners are taking advantage of the HIPSTER's that are moving into the 'Hood. They have a lot more money to spend and they probably are not coupon clipping so who needs prices on stuff.
I shop at C-Town on Washington. : : -
^^^ C-town on Washington? There is no such thing...
...well, not any more. -
C- town is on Washington between Park Place and Prospect.

It's called NSA now. So you like eating gray colored meats?
-
Maybe some on was angry that half the food they bought on a previous visit was spoiled by the time they got it home. I know that happened to me more a couple times when I was still trying to shop there.
-
Those guys at Keyfood on Washington own alot of property and businesses along Washington Ave. Trust me you dont want to mess with them. Believe me you dont.
-
What other businesses do they own?
-
those fools just own a bunch of random other bodega type stores and property from what i understand. but thats standard if you own a damn supermarket (and down own a bunch of other property) somethings wrong
-
I wish we could organize a proper boycott. ancient produce, expired goods everywhere & that f'g Maserati... If we could just get everyone to do Fresh Direct. If people didn't have credit cards we could sell stuff out of a storefront for cash or sumthin...Need boycott!!!!
-
I've been boycotting them for at least a month now. They can kiss my ass.
-
i been sayin f those fools they'll never get another dolla from me
-
does "nsa" stand for 'no strings attached?' as in, you dont want to develop a relationship with your food because it's likely to go south before you consummate? :?

You spend too much time on Craigslist!
NSA = National Supermarket Association, which if I'm not mistaken, includes C-town, the Met, Key Foods, Associated, a bunch-O-little guys. -
hahahhah! fucking funny...I want to have sex with my veggies before they go bad, that watermelon is looking so hot and sexy!!

Subject: Keyfood on 801 Washington Avenue Off Eastern Parkway
 The Owner-Manager of the 801 Washington Avenue Keyfood Supermarket has been a idiot-lout for well over a decade. I have lived in the community for over 30 years. My recent incident where I MADE A 'MISTAKE' & shopped there for Domino Brown Sugar had a nice young cashier reading the 'BUTTONS' on my hat <Marcus>...
The idiot-Lout tried to admonish the cashier for NO reason because she was reading my buttons & I 'looked' at the owner in 'response'. He then threatened to FIRE the cashier BECAUSE she was looking at my button(s).
This was totally uncalled for & this moron-pseudo business person owner of tyhis Keyfood must be dealt with accordingly-LEGALLY AND IN PROTEST!!! This is a year of CHANGE & I will be here with the Brooklynian, State Senators, Congresspersons & City Council persons noting my displeasure with this business persons 'bad-behavior'!!!
-MkACDW -
what did your buttons say ????
-
This ones gotten me in trouble in the past.
-
I hate this place.
I ran in there to get some eggs a few weeks ago and realized that nothing in their dairy case had any price listed on it. Ridiculous. I left without buying anything and haven't shopped there since. (I've also noticed the missing price tag thing in the Flatbush Key Foods.)
The place also smells toxic. -
I love it when the cashiers are ringing my stuff up, text messaging and talking to the other cashiers. All at the same time. Watch them closely. They double scan items sometimes.
-
I haven't witnessed any shouting matches between management and customers recently, but I've seen a few a while back. One of which I recall starting as mis-communication about where an item was. The male customer made a snotty comment, which didn't go ignored. The exchange went back and forth a few times until I thought it might come to blows.
A second was when a woman charged into the store claiming that one of the owners told another neighborhood woman that they didn't want her in the store anymore. Both sides lost their shit and argued into the street.
I'd like to say that neither events offended me. They were actually pretty funny. What offends me is that soapy taste on their chicken cutlets and breasts. Seriously, after soaping, please rinse cutting surfaces. Shit is foul. -

You don't wash your chicken after you take it out of the package? Gag.
