Who is Yelling at that Dog?
This has been happening over the past couple of weeks, most recently last night:
Somewhere in the Butler Pl., Plaza St. E., Vanderbilt, Sterling Pl. block is a dog that occasionally barks at night. In the past couple of weeks, there's a man in this block who has been yelling at the dog's owner(s) to "Shut that f-ing dog up." He then goes on some kind of profanity-laced rant.
At first I thought that this was all mildly amusing. A guy wants to tell his neighbor's dog to fuck off--whatever. Lately, however, it's become annoying and weird. Annoying because I don't always notice the dog--but I surely hear the yelling, and the guy starts to yell immediately after the first bark. He won't stop carrying on, and it's much more bothersome to me than the dog. It's startled me awake on more than one occasion. Weird because last night I was pretty sure I heard the dog start to yelp. Was he throwing something at the dog? If so, that's not cool.
Does anyone have a clearer idea where the yelling is coming from? I'm not sure I want to do anything, I'm just curious where the crazy guy lives.

Next time it happens, yell out "Shut that crazy yelling man up!".
Maybe another neighbor will throw things at him....though, surely, cries of "shut that complaining woman up!" will shortly follow... -
Wow, that's weird. I wonder if it was the guy who used to live by me. There was a guy that lived in an apartment in another building around the corner where the back faced my yard. Around 11pm I was just out with the dogs for a few minutes, and they saw a cat. This made them bark a few times until I hushed them up. AFTER they stopped barking, and while I was halfway up the steps going inside with them, this guy throws open his window and starts yelling.
"I HAVE TO GO TO WORK!!! SHUT YOUR DOGS UP!!" Etc.
Scared the shit out of me. They barked for maybe 5 seconds, and hadn't been barking when he started his tirade.
What got scary was he escaladed the whole thing. When he started yelling again another night, telling me he was going to call the police, I told him, "Yeah, go ahead, call the police."
I went inside, and a few minutes later, our buzzer starts riiiiiiiiiiiiinging and ringing. He left his building, came around the block, and stood out there for 5 minutes ringing our buzzer. I actually had to unscrew the buzzer box from the wall and disconnect the buzzer sound so I couldn't hear it anymore.
And that wasn't the last time. When he came and started ringing again a few nights later, my husband finally went outside and told him to get lost. Thank god my husband is 6 ft tall and athletic, and it scared the crap out of his short, fat, sweaty, balding ass.
He must have moved out at some point since then, so it could totally be him. That guy was a psychopath, and I could definitely see him trying to hurt a dog. -
I did hear this last night, very loudly, but I couldn't make it out. I also heard the dog yelp.
I believe this is occurring, on Sterling but I cannot say for certain. -
caaahyoko, that is a ridiculous story! there are some very crazy dog people in these parts! i wonder if he's as obnoxious and scary with screaming infants. jeez, dogs bark; kids cry; car alarms go off; people fart. most often those who are responsible for the offense get it under control quickly. and the ones who dont should get a stern reminder that they are being asshats and ruining everyone else's experience. and, if you cant deal with it for five minutes, you shouldnt be living it nyc. but yellling at a barking dog? might as well give him/her a treat! s/he's just thinking your barking along with her in a show of support. i hope he's not doing anything other than audible to the dogs.

Yeah, that guy was just flat out unbalanced. I was definitely afraid to leave my dogs outside by themselves for a while after that. That's why when you guys mentioned hearing the dog yelp, I cringed. I really hope the pup doesn't get attacked.

This guy is back for another year! This time though, he seems to be turning his verbal tirades on kids playing outside. Once again, I didn't even notice the kids until he starting shouting and swearing at them (Really nice. I always think that adults who swear at kids are a special kind of loser).

Yelling at a barking dog in NYC can be very dangerous.

Yeah, that is Olympic level douchebaggery right there. Sounds like this guy has rage issues and will probably get so pissed one day that his heart pops.
Howdy, Stranger!
