In case you haven't noticed, if you half-step anywhere in this city whether it be school, work, the street, the internet, you're going to get taken for something.

So walk the streets of OUR neighborhood with some confidence, the same way you walk into, and carry yourself at, your place of employment for fear of being taken advantage of, and maybe you have better results. It is precisely because most white people in my neighborhood walk around utterly terrified that they get harassed and robbed or in this case talked into handing over their money.

I'm not black and I've never had someone so much as look at me funny in the two years I've lived here. Maybe I just carry myself differently. But what's for sure is I'm not scared, and I feel like my block is block and my neighborhood, my neighborhood.

And I also love how we talk about the kids on the street as if they don't have internet access and in turn access to this site.

    Lame!
Remember: If you get mugged, it is your fault and not the mugger's.
  • funny funny stuff being said here. i for 1 know for a fact the weed smoking derelicts in my bldg read this (195 underhill) and the kids next door to me read this. ive talked with them about it.

with that being said AWARENESS is pretty high.

Intentionally vague. Some teenagers who were involved in an incident discussed on one of these boards last month were aware of the discussion. I do have proof of this, but I'm not going to say any more in a public forum.
Soo... If this incident involved someone being hurt by "said" teens.
You'll just keep your month shut and maybe the problem will slip away.
I thought public discussions on this forum where for helping people.

Coming on here and saying I know about "something" that "happened" and I can't tell is sad to say...

    Lame.

Any threats to anyone black, white or gender is a problem for us all.

We don't need more people closing their windows and turning off the light
to the crap that goes on outside.

Since you seem to be missing my point (not assigning blame for that, I have not been that clear), here as the main points of what I was referring to:

    1. The incident was extensively discussed on one of the Brooklynian boards (not this one)
    2. There have been arrests.
    3. Teenagers involved in the incident (I did not say if they were perpetrators, victims, or friends of the above) were aware of the discussion and commented about that among themselves. I am aware of that through means I would rather not disclose.
    4. Because I do not know who you are or who else is reading this I am not going to say anything that may jeopardize anyone involved (other than the perpetrators, but I wouldn't want to give them some excuse for saying they can't get a fair trial :) .

Thank you erratum8mm you are very clear in your message.
I apogize if I was pushy. You are right to not discuss what happened.

    :)
  • wait, aren't we supposed to be talking about the police on underhill and lincoln place? perhaps they are admiring the famous cable box ...the one covered in black tar so the kids don't sit on it or bang on it and bother the people sleeping?
  • So, how about those kids and/or police on Underhill?

Let's stop the thread hijacking over here. You can start a new thread if you want for Brooklynian posters - mostly white and occasionally questionable: yes or no? (Actually no, please don't).
  • I think the police are doing a pretty good job.
  • Wait, was stating the police are doing a pretty good job identifying with a certain group?
  • Candicissima wrote: So, how about those kids and/or police on Underhill?
about that, St John's and Underhill has ALWAYS been one of the WORST blocks in Brooklyn. ALWAYS. There always have been and always will be bad kids there. Bad adults too. Lincoln is a block away. So? I mean is this really a newsworthy thing?
  • Actually, I think the police presence might work as well as the tar on the cable box, but we'll have to wait and see.

The tar was brilliant! School will also be back in session, which might allow the police to claim credit for a decrease in crimes during the day.
  • MOD NOTE:
the race on DH/brooklynian discussion has been split off. please post here: http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=45094

on the off chance that anyone wants to talk about st johns and underhill, kids and police presence at, post here.
