well then, as previously stated, DON'T GO! You surely won't be missed. -
Hi I've been reading your posts for J'Ouvert...
What is GAP? What's the closest train station? -
GAP = Grand Army Plaza, which is also the closest train station (2/3)

2 years ago there was a shooting at Nostrand and Park Plc. One person was dead and a few others injured. This wasn't so much a targeted killing as it was a "spray and pray". This happened a few hundred feet away from a police command post and a van sitting next to it with 8 cops. The police presence is merely a false sense of security. The real reason why so many cops are detailed to this parade is to keep the cops themselves safe. Ever see an armored personell carrier occupied by highly skilled and heavily armed ESU members at the St. Patrick's Day parade? I haven't.
Random or targeted it is still violent. Numbers and statistics don't always tell the truth. Ask any cop who's worked past parades and jouverts and you will get the real answer. -

I can never stay up late enough/wake up early enough myself

I thought I would get all clever this year and take a nap first, and then I was too tired to get out. Next time I'll have to either suck it up and stay up like I did the last 2 years, or start the nap way earlier.
See you guys on the Parkway! -
I went, a friend and i went to this place over in east flatbush around 11pm where a particular j'ouvert band gathers before they hit the j'ouvert route. We were there drinking and talking to different people until the j'ouvert band/crowd headed out around 2-3am. Although am not good with estimating, but there must have been well over 200 people in that particular band when we left and more must have joined as it went along. overall it was a blast, i didn't witness any incidents or bad vibes, even the cops that passed by were playing around and having fun with some of the participants. Anyway that's all for now but if anyone wants anymore details am glad to provide.
