FYI....NOT JUST SOME RANDOM PERSON POSTING HERE...I'M TERRY ANGELO'S SON. JUST THOUGHT I'D HELP HER OUT....SHE'S OBSESSED WITH THIS BLOG IT'S ALL WE HEAR ABOUT....BUT IT MAKES HER HAPPY AND WE "HER FAMILY" LIKE HEARING THE OLD STORIES. FORTUNATELY I GOT TO EXPERIENCE A LITTLE BIT OF PARK SLOPE THE WAY IT WAS, BUT DEFINITELY NOT THE WAY ALL YOU GUYS DID. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER ALL THE FUN TIMES I HAD PLAYING ON 20TH STREET, WALKING ALL OVER WITH MY GRANDMOTHER THE MAYOR OF 20TH STREET MARGIE ANGELO. VISTING, MARY DRITTO, IRENE CIRILLO AFTER CHURCH HAVING MILK AND COOKIES, SELLING CANDLES IN ST. JOHN'S WITH MY GRANDPA MIKE ANGELO, . SO CONTINUE SHARING YOUR MEMORIES THIS WAY MY MOM HAS SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT AT DINNER! LOL

  • Subject: I'm tryign t his again

This site is very frustrating. I just posted a long comment and somehow it ended up on another site. Anyway, I'll try again. I heard that Joan Calciano might be coming to the reunion and also a NY Times reporter. Is this true? If so, this is getting really big! I just finished Joan's book and it was both heart-wrenching and inspiring. I couldn't stop crying though. I also viewed the video of the physic(sp) show where they identified Margie's body 20 years later. Unbelievable. It was a miracle that Joan could have some kind of closure that she probably thought she would never have. I remember Joan, Linda and "little" Margie but I don't know if they would remember me.

HI BABRARA SPENCER NOT SURE IF I KNOW YOU, BUT WELCOME ABOARD :)
  • Hi Patsy: I was on the other board quite a bit. I lived at 698 6th Ave. across the street from Joe's Candy Store. Next door to the Riccos. I do know quite a few people from the board but there are quite a few I don't know. Can't wait for the reunion. Looking forward to seeing old and making new friends. See you there.
  • Where are all the bloggers?? It seems that it will take some time before most get used to this site. Sent my check out today even though I may not be able to attend. Have to wait & see, Janet

OOOPS, LEFT THE C" OUT IN INNOCENT IN ABOVE COOMENT :)
  • barbaraspencer: Did you live in the building with Linda Synowick and Laura & Anna?? Janet
  • Hi Janet: No. Those names don't sound familar to me. I lived bet. 21 & 22nd St. second house off the corner of 22nd, directly across from Joe's Candy Store. Sally Ricco and his family lived on the corner and then on the other side there were two Polish brothers that I knew but darned if I can't remember their names.
Hi Patsy: Yes, I often think how sad it is that our kids and grandkids will never know a real "neighborhood" like we did. Those time are sadly gone and seeing how the times and people are today, can never be duplicated. We were very lucky, but back then we probably didn't always think so.
  • hi all - somehow we got pushed to tomorrow - the date/time of the last entry is Fri Sep 05, 08 5:02 am.

Michael Sherman - thanks for writing in defense of your mom!

I've tried submitting a few other entries and was kicked off. Here's hoping that this one works. Otherwise, back to the drawing board.

  • I agree about the lack of a "neighborhood" as we experienced it when living on 20th Street. Before moving to Ronkonkoma with my wife Arlene and son Rob, we knew so many people on the block and in the surrounding neighborhood. Granted, I had lived in the area since I was three years old. Nevertheless, when we arrived home each day, it took some time to get in the house as we would stop at more than one house along the street and talk to the neighbors who were sitting outside. We have been living in Ronkonkoma for many years now and I barely know anyone except my next door neighbors Tony and Marion and their kids. Of course, Arlene and I are usually running out somewhere to kayak or to visit the horse (primarily Arlene since I don't ride). The people outside of home with whom I am closest are my kayak and in-line skating buddies, none of whom live in the neighborhood (I actually just met a couple around the corner who kayak and only because we were going house to house looking for "Moose", our Maine Coon cat (I call him a dog and he acts like one and thinks that he is the 4th dog in the house - along with Ilsa, Sam and Woody). The lack of the old neighborhood feel could explain why so often I talk out loud to the animals when I am in the back yard. Or maybe I am just crazy.
  • Talking about Lauterbach's (the bar, not Sissy), I believe they may still have live music there. Has anyone gone there recently and could you verify that ? I wonder what type of music they hosting. In the 1980s, we saw several decent punk/rock bands including a band which had members of The Shirts (Annie Golden was there that night but in the audience next to us and not singing). When my son was a young teen, I took him to many heavy metal concerts at Lamours, which I understand had made a comeback but not sure if they are still there. Anyone know ? (Now we go to places like Roseland, Nokia, Jones Beach and various other venues.....last show being Judas Priest, Motorhead and the former Black Sabbath).

  • TERRY MY DEAR:
I've been blogging you for days, I'm not sure if you are getting my notes. Please answer me, I feel like I'm in limbo. Love ya and can't wait to see everyone. I'm just wondering what everyone looks like, I saw your picture on facebook, but it was very small. From what I could see you have not changed, beautiful as ever
  • Facebook. When we were kids in Park Slope, the only "face book" we had was a scrapbook where you pasted those little black and white photos you took in the booth with the curtain at Coney Island. The only "my space" I remember was the one half square foot on the floor of the subway where you stood sandwiched between people. So, while this blog may be a little confusing to begin to use, remember when we had nothing as kids except passing notes between desks in class.
