......to add to that "holy mackerel" and "none of us were angels", even though we didn't know what a computer was, I had a "file" in my mental hard drive (brain) that was entitled "Things likely to insure my place in hell". They usually were things that I prefaced in my weekly confessions with the words: "Bless me father for I have sinned. I had impure thoughts blah, blah, blah".

Nice to hear from you. I have been working for that little lab on 21st and 6th for the last 38 yrs. That little lab is a now a billion dollar corporation. I have been living on Staten Island since my divorce 13 yrs ago. I live off of Sharrots Rd by the West Shore Expway.

I thought that lab on 6th Avenue closed decades ago. Seem to remember that the employees showed up one day and the place was closed. Did they relocate and you work at the other location ? It was a clinical lab, right ? Do they do Microbiological testing as well as Chemistry ? What was/ is the name of the lab ? -

Hey......I saw in the paper that the mayor is stepping in to try to prevent the closing of Astroland in Coney Island. I must say that Coney Island is like a holy site for me. Guess "holy" is not the right word for it since in the very early history of Coney Island it had the reputation for all sorts of sin and debauchery. The first book written about Coney Island was titled "Sodom By The Sea". It may be a little distance from Park Slope but for me it was as much home as my house on 20th Street.

Basically the lab on 6th Av (KCRL) was bought by Roche pharmaceutical company around 1969 or 70. In 1974 they purchased another small lab in NJ and combined both under one roof in Raritan NJ. Only some employees made the move to the new lab. It was then named Roche Clinical Lab, and then changed to Roche Biomedical Lab when we purchased a lab in NC. Over the years we purchased other labs along the way. We then purchased National Health Lab owned by Ron Pearlman of Revelon. These 2 major labs merged and we are now called Labrotory Corporation of America (LabCorp). -

So what do you do for Lab Corp ? My wife is in forensics and I believe that some labs out-source forensic DNA testing to Lab Corp. -
