  • BOB HORAN: Call your sister Janet. Trust me, it's not the dog calling you.

To explain. The other day, my brother's son got a mumbled call saying something about a car accident. Well that night, around 2:30 am my brother Bob got a call from me, except I was asleep. After calling my sister and getting her involved, they started calling me on my home phone. I didn't answer. I got up to get my cell phone, (My dog was laying on top of it). knowing that was next , it rang and I answered it .
Soooooooooo, my dog had hit the right buttons to call my brother and since he couldn't get me and I didn't speak during the call, he thought I was in a car accident in a ditch somewhere, lol.
I told my dog not to call him anymore, lol.

JANET, This is the 2nd time I heard the story with BOB,dog and phone call and I still crack up, My daughter was laughing when I read the post to her.

Marcy is not coming, she sent email to Terry to inform her. Her sister has some big Art show at Penn State same date.
She said the next one she would attend.

After all those people going to Terry I'm not sure there will be a next one, I'm sure the out pour of people was very unexpected. Hopfully for the crew who worked hard on this it will be worth it. I for one ADMIRE some one who goes out of thier way like this to make something special.

=D> THATS YOU REUNION LADIES !
  • Barbara Elardo ,

wow you took me back. I remember but I was not sure till now about her brushing my hair!! How old were you at the time ?
Do you remem. how old I was ? If you are coming bring a picture of your mom if you can, if possible.
I am not good with Names at all, but I have recognized people from grammer school and even 5 yrs. of age a playmate from 20th st. (Sherel, had a sister LInda ) . When I told her at a random meeting in a pork store in S.I. she was some one I played with at 5yrs. old she was blown away. 45 yrs. ago ! Now if I can just keep that brain going like this I'll be fine by old age.

    BOB,

Did you get the post about Santa ?
  • JANET AND BOB I LOVE THE DOG STORY. YOU 2 CRACK ME UP.

BOB I DO HOPE YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND AND SHOW UP. SURPRISE US, PLEASE :)
  • OK, GOOD NIGHT ALL. ROUGH DAY AT WORK TODAY. I'M BEAT. TALK TOMORROW [-o<
  • Carol DL I am too late for the reunion so will not be there. However, if you send me your email, I will try to find a picture of my mother around the time she was the cookie lady and send it to you. I think you were about 4 years old. My brother Eddie and I were friends of your brother - we called him Eliot, but your family called him Albert. I don't know how he got that name. I spent a lot of time in your house. Doesn't it seem weird that someone you don't remember (me) remembers you? How old is Eliot? I might be a year older. Whatever became of your father? mother?

    Barbara
  • Janet Someone said on the blog that Billy Fox had a stroke and was confined to his house.

How the hell do you register?

    Barbara
  • JANET Barbara needs your help.

BARBARA Elliot met Billys brother he told Elliot he had a stroke.
  • Barbara: Just go to the home page of brooklynian.com and register I believe. Then go to this page and bookmark it or add to Favorites. Every time after that, just use that link so you won't have to log on again.

    Patsy Kirk Miele

I lived on 20th between 6 & 7th and I have been thinking about what you posted . I can understand what you said about chat room, real nice to chat but nice to read also about all the memories that people have & to share them. Young & Old. Thats what I loved when Dan first told me to go to the Daily Slope. Many people gone now ???

SO I AM GOING BACK TO MEMORIES ..... Ralph Trocchio mentioned stick ball on the school yard steps, which made me think of when I went to P.S. 146 19th st. 6th & 7th and the best classroom job you could get was "who would like to be the eraser moniter" and all you heard was me ! me ! me!
I figured out if you don't scream Meeeeeeee you would be picked. You would go down to the school yard and bang out the chalk from the erasers , take your frustrations out on the wall and and take your time too

I went to St. John's also 1st grade or maybe 2 grades. All I remember is what could I possibly have done in 1st grade to get punished by the sister in the back of the room , standing up & holding a pile of books till I could not see over them, I thought my arms would fall off. Sister St. William I believe was her name. We won't go into what my brother did, all I know is thats how I wound up in P.S. 146 & then into the brand new I.S.88.

I brought my kids to the school yard 19 street 6&7th not to long ago, it was a great day driving all over the neighborhood , even pointed out Trocchio's house, Mikes candy store , later Teddys. I used to load up a shopping cart with bottles, pray that none would fall through the bars and break, take them for the deposit, cross over to Mikes and buy PENNY candies which would be put in a little brown paper bag. To this day I love dark choc. covered caramels due to Mikes candy store.

Anyone remember the houses that were on 6th Ave. between 18 & 19 St. BEFORE the park was put there.
Anyone know who lived there ?

Thats what Patsy wants , right Patsy.

  • I am sure Ralph T. will know about the house on 19th st. Ralph do you remember? If not i can ask Anthony T. I do remember mikes penny candy.

  • CAROL DL THANK YOU SO MUCH YES, GOING BACK ON MEMORIES IS A GREAT THING. (WHILE WE CAN STILL THINK STRAIGHT) LOL I ALSO LIVED ON 20TH ST BTWN 6/7 AVES. I WAS MARRIED TO NAT GUIDO FOR 19 YRS. (WE ARE NOW DIVORCED AND BOTH OF US REMARRIED) WHAT WAS YOUR ADDRESS. DO I KNOW YOU? I USED TO BE GOOD FRIENDS W/ANNA BROWE AND LUCILLE NARDO ON THE BLOCK:)
  • Subject: Lucille Nardo

She was a very good friend of mine. Have not seen her in 30 some odd years. I know she was married to a hairdresser. His name is Harold. They are divorced but have a daughter. God, she must me in her 20's by now.
  • Patsy: Anna Browe & Lucille Nardo??? What about us, me, Pat Fairchild (deceased) and Millie??? LOL

Terry: Thanks. Another dog story is the time my mother's friend Mrs. Conroy rushed over to my mother's house and was going to call the police because when she called my mother and it was picked up, she heard moaning or growling and thought my mother was having some sort of fit.
The thing was that the (crazy) dog was alone in the house and hated the ring of the phone, so he knocked the receiver off the hook and was growling into it.
We laughed about that for years.
  • Danny L: Lucille still lives in her mother's house on 20th. Her mother also still lives there. Her daughter Lisa is in Bensonhurst.
  • Does anyone remember how Mike acted when they were in the store (Girls)??
  • By the way, Mike always used to call the kids "Shuckie" ???
  • Anyone out there??
  • Janet - Do you still keep in touch with Lucille? I would love to go over and visit her and her Mom.
