I saw Lucille about one year ago, she was sitting on her stoop and I was driving by to look at the neighborhood. We chatted for awhile.
I remember what used too happen at Mikes candy store. Horrible, how come no one reported that ah? -
Janet, you have to come up here, too many things going on. You cant miss this.

OMG, I am the only one up this early on a Sunday. I am so very ashamed. I go to sleep early on a Saturday night.

Ann Marie,
Thanks for the heads up on the dress code. Casual works for me. Birthday suit does not otherwise, someone will need to bring an iron for the wrinkles.
See you Sunday!

Carol: The gas is scarce because of pipe line problems in Texas as well as the storm, so the gas stations are running out. The gas went from $3.59 a gallon to $4.70 overnight, but most gas stations were sold out. It is supposed to last 2 weeks. I am renting a car so we will see.

PRAYERS FOR ALL -
I went to mass last night and said special prayers for all of you and your families, Park Slope, and our reunion. It will be blessed with success and safe round-trips for all, wherever you will be travelling from.
Hi DEBBIE - AND ALL BLOGGERS -
yes, many have dropped off 'the site' and I guess I am one of
them. Some of us choose to have one-on-one chats off line, via email
or telephone, vs. writing everything on this Site. It has lost its focus as far as I am concerned, and lost its original intent (by my perception). As with lilfe, everything evolves and this has become a chatroom. And that's ok if that is 'what it is to be' moving forward. Maybe all the memories are used up? I doubt it - they are just stifled!
This is the second time and the LAST, I will make this point.
The first time I got a great cheer from the sidelines from Charlie Mielie (Hi Charlie!) I just had to comment based on Patsy's point from yesterday, and Debbie's post about folks dropping off. (Congratulations Debbie - mother-in-law 'to be.') (Hi Patsy xxx see you next week!)
NEW BLOGGERS -
not sure if you had the opportunity to read the original Site we used "Park Slope When" - there were wonderful memories shared, stories of our great families' past, and most important - the common THEME of growing up in the best neighborhood ever....
So if you haven't had an opportunity to go back there, please don't deprive yourselves of going back in time, to a place we still call HOME! -
It's a tough situation we have here sometimes. Some people will tell stories and some have no idea who most of the people are that were involved, so they lose interest.
Others just tell general stories and most can relate. But most of us who see people on here after so many years can't get over our surprise and start talking to them, making this seem more like a chat room. Eventually it will simmer down and we will ask questions of other people we have in common.
No matter what happens, when other readers do not know the people being asked about and or talked about, they feel disconnected and it just resembles a chat room to them.
As far as so many people dropping out of the blogs, I think they are just dissatisfied with the new set up and or cannot maneuver their way around it.
I think this blogging site is great just for having brought all these people together. Many are saving their stories for the reunion !! -
Carol DL: I can't call you because you never gave me your number and it is blocked out when you call, lol, so call me asap, Janet
-
Roseile Z...
I'm afraid I don't remember you living net door to me? My cousin, Tony Mei, lived on 6th Avenue between 19th and 20th streets.
Alan La Greca...
It was good talking to you too. I look forward to your calls.

For a quick story for any who missed a shorter version of it originally, me and Millie went to see Ralphie's band at Henry's on 69th and 5th. Even though we were way under age, and had forged proof, we went to hang out.
After an hour or so, I looked out the window and saw my mother standing outside with her arms crossed talking to the bouncers. Me and Millie ran to the bathroom and climbed out one of those very small bathroom windows and had to climb our way to the corner over many fences, to get out and back to 20th street before my mother.
What a night !!! Someone had ratted us out !!! -
I think Rosalie lived near Tony after he was married and moved to 21st. She lived in a smaller 1 family house below him, towards 6th avenue.
-
Sally Ears: The above post was for you.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT PEOPLE ARE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING ON THIS SITE. NILDA FOR ONE. THERE ARE STILL SOME OLD STORIES BUT YES IT IS BECOMING A CHAT ROOM. THATS OK WE ARE STILL KEEPING IN TOUCH.
JANET,
YOUR STORY IS JUST LIKE MINE IN THE CLUB ON 6TH AVENUE. I WAS HIDING BEHIND THE CURTAIN ,IN THE STORE WINDOW OF THE CLUB AND MARGIE ANGELO WAS OUTSIDE WAITING TO BEAT THE S--T OUT OF ME I WAS SHAKING SHE BELIEVED EVERYONE THAT I WAS NOT IN THE CLUB. IF SHE WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ME I WOULD NOT BE ON THIS BLOG TYPING I WOULD BE CRIPPLED FROM HER.
ALSO CHARLIE SICIARGO'S DAD CAME LOOKING FOR HIM IN THAT CLUB AND WE KNEW HE WAS OUTSIDE HE CAME IN AND SAID WHERE IS CHARLIE IF I FIND HIM IN HERE I WILL KILL HIM DONT LIE TO ME. ALL I KNEW IS I THOUGHT THE ROAD RUNNER RAN PAST ME. WHEN HE HEAD HIS DAD WAS OUTSIDE HE RAN TO THE BACK BROKE THE BATHROOM DOOR DOWN TO THE HALLWAY RAN UP TO THE ROOF AND HID. THOSE WERE THE DAYS KIDS HAD FEAR. BEFORE I DID ANYTHING WRONG MY MOTHERS FACE CAME RIGHT TO ME. DRUGS, SEX ANYTHING. FEAR I HAD I TELL YOU FEAR. I WAS NOT AN ANGEL BUT I HAD FEAR IN ME. DID SOME THINGS BUT WORRIED ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES. KIDS TODAY DONT WORRY ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES. TERRY -
